My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for In2Books (ePals Foundation), Herndon, VA, USA
I liked being able to communicate directly with my student and watch them learn over the course of the school year. We had some interesting conversations; sometimes they were off-topic, although the discussion had been prompted by the book. The books we read were thought-provoking and well chosen. However, I felt that I didn't make that much of an impact on my student's writing/reading/general learning abilities. Perhaps a little more time could be spend coaching volunteers on how to ask good questions about the books that will spark conversations and allow the student to use critical thinking skills.
