Review for Brazilian Alliance, San Rafael, CA, USA
Brazilian Alliance is the first nonprofit organization that serves the Portuguese-speaking communities throughout the Bay Area. Brazilian Alliance promotes self-sustainability and social integration of the Portuguese speaking communities through legal services, education and advocacy. Brazilian Alliance has helped 300-400 families of the Bay Area in Marin County with its legal department that has changed the lives of each individual to better living condition after having their legal issues resolved. It is a honor to work with an organization that has so little resources and yet work and supports the community with confidence and diligence. No client is ever turned out due to limited resources this alone is a true proof of how high is its member's committment to their mission. I am proud of BA and I will work as a volunteer for them for as long as they exist.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
watching clients becoming legal residents of the United States for a fraction of what they would have to pay by hiring a lawyer privately and that didn't speak their language. Also, I've seen mothers re-gaining their child custody due to the work provided by the civil deparment team.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Donate the funds needed to its operational expenses.

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?
It is painfull to see everyone working full time for another organization and having little time for BA. It is impressive to see how much this organization has accomplished and I can only envision of how greater this organization woulb be now if at least the Executive Director could work with Brazilian Alliance at a full time capacity.
Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
I have learned a great deal from project management, grant research and application process as well as improving my community outreach skills.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
Wonderfull, appreciated, united with a greater purpose of helping others.
