Review for Urology Research and Education Foundation, Dallas, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have worked with this organization for a number of years. This is a great organization raising awareness for prostate cancer and general men's health. UREF also took responsibility in providing a prostate cancer support group with support in making treatment decisions and with dealing with live after prostate cancer. Led by a highly respected urologist and a very knowledgeable and active hospital administrator, the support group has the plus of being supported by specialized medical personnel. Augmented by yearly dinner lectures and/or symposia, this group is the top prostate cancer support group in the area.

Review for North Texas Prostate Cancer Coalition, Colleyville, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The North Texas Prostate Cancer Coalition has continued to increase its responsibilities.
2017 saw the 8th Annual Prostate Cancer Symposium at the Texas Rangers Globe Life Stadium. This apparently was the greatest symposium we had so far. We had three outstanding speakers: Wendy Harpham, MD - a long-term cancer survivor, recognized author and nationally recognized speaker; Kevin Courtney, MD, PHD, well-known medical oncologist at UT-Southwestern as well as baseball-great Ken Griffin Sr., who joined Bayer with their "Men Who Speak Up" program.
We increased activities in providing awareness and education for prostate cancer at a number of Metroplex events.
Our "Let's Talk on Tuesday ... About Prostate Cancer" face-to-face survivor chat is being recognized and is loved by guys and partners attending.
Our programs are enhanced by programs run by affiliate and member organisations: The Urology Research and Education Foundation (UREF), the Texas Health Harris Prostate Cancer Resource Center and the African-American "50 Hoops" organisation.

Review for North Texas Prostate Cancer Coalition, Colleyville, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

NTxPCC has been active during the last 12 months: We attended over 30 special events (health fairs, screenings, etc.); our 2nd Annual PCa Symposium featuring Dr. Mark Moyad as well as some great local research physicians and community speakers attracted a large audience.
The Coalition now includes all PCa support groups within the Metroplex; we are happy to announce that 50 Hoops has joined our organization.
Our “Let’s Talk on Tuesday” program is very popular with newly diagnosed men and other survivors meeting face-to-face with long-term survivors.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The success of this group may be reflected in a statement made by the spouse of one of the newly diagnosed men: “I am very grateful to this group as they have completely changed my husband’s attitude towards this disease”.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

It is obvious that we need to find somebody with experience in public relations.
