Review for Center for Child Counseling, Inc., Palm Beach Gardens, FL, USA
I have been working at the Center for Child Counseling for 5 years and appreciate the level of support we obtain. The agency truly cares about the well-being of the staff and clients we serve, and therefore does all it can to support the therapists in their professional development through trainings and extensive supervision. The Center for Child Counseling has been able to launch several online workshops in the last couple of months to expand their efforts in supporting the community during the stressful times and effects of the global health pandemic, COVID-19. Our therapists are true champions as they have done everything to quickly learn the ins and outs of telehealth services in order to continue the amazing work with their clients.

Center for Child Counseling focuses on providing quality mental health counseling services to children and their caregivers. Center for Child Counseling therapists are hard working, empathetic and genuinely caring! Each therapists is available to help one another when a question may arise or to provide support when staffing a clinical case. Center for Child Counseling provides supportive clinical supervision to assist the therapists in their own self-care and to ensure the children and families that are served are provided the interventions and resources needed to achieve their therapeutic goals. Center for Child Counseling has also been able to provide trainings on being ACEs Aware and Trauma Informed in the community so that everyone who is able to impact a child and/or family can do so in a supportive manner.

I have had the opportunity to intern at ABC for the past 5 months and it was truly an amazing experience. I now have a better understanding of the meaning of children's play and have been able to develop an ability to read their cues. I was taught these skills by watching the lead counselors during small group play therapy sessions and through the trainings I attended during my time at ABC. It was a very enriching internship experience where I was able to see the children's behavior improve over time because they felt understood, as the counselor identified the feeling they had and provided them with a safe alternative on how to express that feeling. ABC has taught me that children use play as a way to communicate and process their world, and that the toys are their words. Through the first training I was able to personally experience the power of play during an exercise where we told a partner a story through the miniatures we had before us. It was the first time I had seen those miniatures, but somehow unintentionally I played out an event in my life that I had denied to have any emotional reaction. Play therapy can be used with all ages and ABC has done an excellent job in providing professionals, parents, teachers, and interns the knowledge and the experience necessary to help young children have healthier developments and the opportunity to have healthy relationships.
