Review for MALAMA NA HONU, Haleiwa, HI, USA
This is an excellent group - really nice people. In a nutshell, volunteers give Naturalist talk to the tourists and protect the 20+ Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles inhabiting the beach from harrasment (humans trying to touch them or block them from coming ashore to bask on the sandy beach.) It's a fun group to belong to and the turtles (Honu) are adorable. Most of the tourists/visitors are really nice to talk to and seem to enjoy receiving turtle related information from us. Beautiful sunsets at Laniakea Beach is another plus.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The number of turtles that feel comfortable enough to come on shore now.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Do it the same way they are doing it.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
We are not police (to enforce Endangered Species Act) but a guide to help people enjoy the turtles and the beach.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Super nice.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Expand its services to all the beaches of Hawaii; also use the money for research to eradicate deseases such as deadly tumors.
Ways to make it better...
The traffic getting to the North Shore was better.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Can't think of any right now.
One thing I'd also say is that...
It's a good group.
