Review for Hillside House, Santa Barbara, CA, USA

Hillside House is unique within our community as an institution providing a joyful and enabling living environment for people with developmental disabilities. Our residents are not here becasue of any bad choices they have made in their lives, but because they were born with disabilities that require assistance far above and beyond those of most people. Hillside House abundantly fulfills its "tag line": "Fostering Abilities, Creating Community."

Seeing what a happy and safe environment is established for the residents.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would like to see the redevelopment of the property form the current 60 year old building to smaller apartments for 4-6 residents, intermingled with apartments and condominiums for people without disabilities.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2011

Role:  Board Member & I have volunteered with special events for the residents and visit regularly with a group of about 10 residents. Also I have been closely involved with the annual fundraisiing event for 8 years.
