Review for Soldiers' Angels, San Antonio, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a volunteer for this wonderful organization since 2009. I have done several fundraisers, donation drives, and events. Everywhere I go in my Soldiers' Angels shirt, I am stopped by a veteran and THANKED for everything that we do. Soldiers' Angels is by far the greatest nonprofit for military that I know. They go above and beyond for our veterans, active duty, and their families.

Would you volunteer for this group again?

For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?

Did the organization use your time wisely?

Review for Soldiers' Angels, San Antonio, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been an "Angel" for a little over 2 years now. As angels, we adopt deployed military men and women and send care packages and letters of support for them. But that isn't all we do.

This year, over the Fourth of July weekend, I got the honor of coordinating a table in the famous Luckenbach, Texas to spread the word about Soldiers' Angels. Over a 3 day period, I met hundreds of people that wrote their letters to any deployed hero, we laughed, cried and hugged for a constant 3 days.

A few stories that I will forever hold in my heart came from those three days. I met young men, that while they were deployed had an angel. They said those packages and letters meant the world to them. That no matter how horrible their day or week had been, their Angel mail always cheered them up.

I met a mother of a deployed Airmen. It was the first time in their life that they had been apart for her daughters upcoming birthday. I helped her add her daughter to the list to be adopted, and got permission to send her daughter some birthday cards. Well.... I ended up sending her a birthday in a box!

I also met the parents of an Army Ranger, he is currently on his 4th deployment. His 3rd deployment, he was injured by an IED blast. To say they were distraught, is understating it. We cried together for over an hour, and I promised to keep him in my prayers, and I have, and will forever.

Soldiers' Angels does more than adopt out our deployed military. They support the family left back home, they help wounded warriors by giving them laptops, and through Operation Harmony, help heal their souls.

I love being affiliated with such a wonderful organization. I do not do this for recognition, I never want anything back for volunteering. Hearing stories of how happy our heros are to receive our packages is all the thanks I need.

Soldiers' Angels is also very supportive of their volunteers. We get the help we need to spread the word, and gather more angels. Wingtip to Wingtip!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The stories from men and women that have had an angel while deployed. Something a former Marine said to me, "It is one thing to get letters from support from home, but to get them from a complete stranger is incredible."

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
