Review for Hope Stone, Inc, Houston, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Hope Stone is a wonderful resource for children (of all ages) who do not normally have access to arts & performing programs. I have worked with them for several years in the Spring Branch area and they bring dance, theater and drumming to elementary students. The teachers are talented, engaging and thoughtful. The students love the programs and I look forward to working and collaborating with them for a long time to come!

Review for Hope Stone, Inc, Houston, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Hope Stone provides dance, theatre and community to children who otherwise would have no opportunity to engage in these types of programs. Jane and her staff of teachers are compassionate, passionate, talented, caring, and offer a world of opportunities to communities throughout greater Houston.

Review for Communities In Schools of Houston, Inc., Houston, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a volunteer for Communities in Schools Houston for about five years. I serve on the Marketing committee, working with staff to help raise awareness for the program. In that role I have been able to participate in many outreach programs at the schools served by CISH and to interact with students and staff in the greater Houston area. At every event it is apparent that the organization is truly a safety net and lifeline for students and their families. The staff works tirelessly to make sure that the needs of children are addressed so they can focus on school work, and the outcomes are amazing. I have been at events where students who were homeless or sometimes even worse have outlined how the CIS case-worker helped them with solutions and provided all types of support with the result that he or she was able to study, graduate and apply successfully to college. This organization works behind the scenes to make sure that children get support so they can stay in school and therefore be prepared for a successful life.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Student and family testimonies

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Seeing the immediate results that support has on the children served. They get support, and then they can study, stay focused, and are motivated to graduate and move onto higher education. This keeps children out of poverty and out of jail.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Professional, caring, skilled, organized.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Put case workers in every school in Houston and the outlying areas like Spring Branch and therefore provide support for children who are right now moving every 3 months, having to watch sibling while parents work multiple jobs, having to move 2-3/year.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month
