Review for The Humane Society of the United States, Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 1 stars

This "Charity" is a scam! They only donate .5 percent of their profits to actual animal welfare! The majority of their money is spent on lobbiest! They are a polictical animal rights group with the same agenda as PETA. They wish to ban the ownership of all pets...starting now with the exotics. And I don't just mean cobras...they are trying to ban all exotic birds (like parakeets and canaries), frogs, reptiles, even HAMTERS! Seriously. Look at a group called HumaneWatch for the real truth. They are trying to elimnate cattle ranching, chicken farming, and all other sourses of "animal slaverly". They have been pulling the wool over america's eyes TOO long! Stop falling for the lies!
Your dollars are not going to animals...they are going to extremist animal rights groups!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The laws they are backing are trying to keep me from being able to own my pets!!!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The government is already has an open case to investigate them for fraud. I would make them either directly give 75% of their profits DIRECTLY to animal care....OR force them to lose their non-profit status!

Will you volunteer or donate to this organization?

No

How much of an impact do you think this organization has?

None

Role:  General Member of the Public & I actually researched where their money went BEFORE donating!.

Review for Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue Society Ltd, Mount Airy, MD, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I adopted my wonderful horse from Gentle Giants this past summer. They were amazing and really made the process a dream. They are very careful about who gets their horses and it really shows. Best of all (unlike SOME other horse rescues) they are HONEST about the animals you wish to adopt. There are no secrets and no hidden surprises after you adopt! They do excellent vet/farrier work and the horses are in excellent health once they are released to be adopted. They train and put hours of work into each one! The adoption fee doesn't cover a .5th of the amount of money they put into each horse. I am trilled to death with my Sugar draft pony cross...she is wonderful and I am proud to have gotten her from Gentle Giants!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I was able to come out and ride Sugar first...and handle her on the ground, to see if we were a good match. I was able to adopt her and she has been fantastic! They are a dream group...spending countless hours and time doing what they love for ALL the right reasons!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Definatly give them a huge farm in the country...and away from that god-awful planned community they are stuck in! Gag me with a spoon if I ever had to live near that! LOL! But give them major sponsership...and a marketing expert to help get more funds and more TV spotlights when they do amazing things!
