My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Meals on Wheels San Antonio, San Antonio, TX, USA
I deliver meals weekly, and this is one of the most satisfying parts of my week. I don't talk at length with the clients, but I feel that I know them, and I feel valued by them. Everyone I deliver meals to seems like a wonderful person. Helping make their lives a little easier, a little less isolated, and a little healthier feels like the best thing I can do with my time.
Review for San Antonio Humane Society , San Antonio, TX, USA
In January, I went to the Humane Society shelter on Fredericksburg Road in search of a puppy to raise as a companion and potential therapy dog. I was amazed by the clean and inviting facilities. I had imagined that I would feel sorry for all the creatures I'd see, but I ended up think that the creatures were lucky to be at such an animal and people friendly place. The animals did not appear frightened and desperate; they appeared happy and well attended. One reached a paw through his spacious crate and tracked my eyes as I passed. I came back, adopted, and have been happy with my companion. He is bright, playful, loving, healthy, and just about everything one could want in a puppy. I am pleased that the environment at the Humane Society promotes comfort and development instead of further trauma.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
My adoption of a puppy and the enjoyment I've had integrating him into my family.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Advertise by showing pictures of the facilities and the animals receiving care. More people may go to the Humane Society in search of pets if they knew that going there is not depressing.
How would you describe the help you got from this organization?
How likely are you to recommend this organization to a friend?
How do you feel you were treated by this organization?
How did you find this group?
Online. I looked for animal rescue groups because I did not want to support puppy mills. There are enough animals needing a home that I did not want to purchase an animal from a source that bred animals.
What, if any, change in your life has this group encouraged?
Adding a puppy to my household has brought change to my life and to my household. Yes, I've had to adjust to my puppy's needs, but my puppy has been responsive to my needs. He increases the laughter in the house, gives me a reason to exercise more, and adds to the warmth in my heart. He has provided hours of entertainment to me and to the child relatives who visited me this summer.
