Review for HOPE International, Lancaster, PA, USA
HOPE International is not only an incredible microfinance organization with a wholistic approach, but a group of folks that care tremendously about connecting with their donors beyond the donation of funds. HOPE wants to form partnerships, develping educated, passionate advocates.
My personal story with HOPE shows just this. While I've been a supporter of HOPE for a few years, I decided to raise money for HOPE through the 2010 Chicago Marathon. When I contacted HOPE I had expected to just request a few materials in order to aid in fundraising. Instead, their enthusiastic support led to a personal fundraising website, weekly reports of my progress, and a heart-felt card from the Lancaster staff when the race did not go quite as well as hoped.
This relationship only encouraged me as a donor and partnering advocate for the role microfinance can play in the race to end poverty. I'm not involved with efforts in the Chicagoland area to spread the word of HOPE's work.
