My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Go Conscious Earth Inc, Durham, NC, USA
In a time when it can be difficult to choose between so many non-profits out there, Go Conscious Earth is a no-brainer. GCE's mission is so unique and refreshing because of the amazing collaboration with the indigenous tribes inhabiting the land it is working to protect. It is easy to want to save beautiful and life-sustaining lands like the Lab Tumba region in DRC, but GCE's model is truly sustainable because instead of making decisions for the people living in the region they work through the tribes empowering the people to make their own decisions and take control of their ancestral lands. GCE's founder, Godi Godar, was born into one of these tribes, made a life in the USA, and has now returned to the DRC to help save his amazing home and people. I can not think of another organization that is more worthy of my support or that is better equipped to truly make a lasting impact.

Review for the Animal Park at the Conservators Center, Burlington, NC, USA
I first came to the Conservators' Center for a tour with my family over the Thanksgiving holiday and my husband and I have been onsite every Saturday since as volunteers. When our schedules' allow, we help out multiple days a week. We began volunteering for the animals and quickly realized that we were becoming so attached not only because of the animals but because of the amazing community of people at the Center. When we come to CCI, we feel like we are spending time with our extended family, both animal and human.
When you help at CCI, you also always have the feeling that you truly are needed. Every day that I am volunteering I know that I am assisting with a task that needs to be done, I feel useful and appreciated.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the lives of the rescued animals they have onsite that have been improved immeasurably and the amazing community of people who have committed their lives to not only these animals but to education and conservation efforts surrounding these species around the world.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Find more funding to expand enclosures for the animals onsite and create more awareness of CCI's mission in the surrounding communities.
