My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Equi-Kids Therapeutic Riding Program, Virginia Beach, VA, USA
I have been volunteering with EquiKids since January of 2011. I believe this program is one of the BEST I have ever been involved with and i volunteer a lot. The positive changes I have seen in not only the students, but in the other volunteers and fellow staff members is just overwhelming. The relationships that are forged in this program are those that I am sure will last a lifetime for many of the people involved with this program. EquiKids not only focuses on each student's own personal needs, but they make everything fun in an open environment which encourages learning, exploring, self-confidence and so many other positive things.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
seeing the growth of not only myself, but of my fellow volunteers and the students we assist each day. The outreach this program has is also incredible.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
try to get the word out more about what exactly goes on at EquiKids and who we serve.
Would you volunteer for this group again?
For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?
Did the organization use your time wisely?
Would you recommend this group to a friend?
What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?
continuing education with clinics and classes to assist the volunteers in learning more about what EquiKids can and does offer, along with other general horse knowledge.
Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
yes, EquiKids has had such a positive effect on me and my life. I know going into volunteering that i would meet new people and be able to fill my empty time since my husband is deployed. I had no idea how many other military families i would meet and become close friends with. EquiKids is not only therapeutic for the students, but I feel it is also therapeutic for the volunteers and staff as well!
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
accomplished, self-confident, welcome, appreciated, happy....the list could go on
