Review for The Victory Center, Toledo, OH, USA
The Victory Center in Toledo Ohio has been a haven for my husband and myself since Feb. 2001. I was diagnosed with AML in January 2001, 3 months later while researching transplant centers I found a lump in my breast. It was breast cancer and I needed a mastectomy. It was difficult for both my husband and me, but the wonderful people at the VC were there to provide support for both of us. Each time I was greeted with a smiling person asking how I was doing. The staff encouraged me during the most difficult times. The caregivers group were there for the many times my husband needed help and their support. I was a part of the women's support group that helped me through both cancer diagnoses. We were in Seattle for 5 months, having my stem cell transplant, the VC groups and staff sent cards and would call us to let us know how much they cared. The support continued when we got back home. The massages, healing touch, and other services helped me cope with all the stress and improve my immune system when I came home.
The services are totally free to participants and they are never asked for payment. They are privately funded.
The VC's mission to serve the cancer patients and their caregivers is so important to us, we have become volunteers and encourage others to find the support and care at the VC. We have many friends that we met at the VC and they have become a major part of our lives. I am a 4 time cancer survivor and am still around to brag about it.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
In 2001, I was diagnosed with AML in January and Breast cancer in March 2001. The Victory Center helped us get through the diagnoses, treatment and the road to recovery.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I wish they had more funds to help more cancer patients .
