Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals
Mission: The mission of YOUR Humane Society SPCA is to protect animals. The mission is carried out through direct care for animals that are injured, abused, unwanted, or abandoned, securing homes for as many as possible; and through community assistance programs including spay/neuter services and pet food distribution as well as providing humane education and pet safety information to our community in order to reduce pet overpopulation and improve the quality of life for animals.
Target demographics: local animals in need of homes, food, medical care
Direct beneficiaries per year: over 1700 animals be placed in permanent loving homes/qualifying rescues who were at risk for euthanasia at our County facility.
Geographic areas served: Sumter County FL
Programs: "The Big Fix" Spay/Neuter Voucher program (sliding scale) and "Kibbles" FREE Pet Food Pantry both serving low income qualifying Sumter County residents' pets, discounted adoption programs: "Pets for Veterans" active/retired military and "Seniors for Seniors" older shelter pets to senior citizens, humane education and disaster prep for adults and children locally and a Foster Home program for animals who need a quieter haven than a shelter environment.
