Mission: Wag rescue is a volunteer supported organization committed to the following community services:to rescue and assist in the permanent placement of stray, abandoned, unclaimed, and surrendered dogs in and around wimberley, texas. To promote and ensure the compassionate and humane treatment of dogs in our care by providing medical treatment including heartworm treatment, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, and professional behavioral evaluation, training and rehabilitation if required. To place these dogs in a safe-haven, and provide a pre-screened foster home where they are nurtured, receive training and learn socialization skills so that they have the best chance of becoming a good companion animal. To find the most suitable, vetted permanent home for each dog based on its temperament and personality and compatibility with the adoptive family. I have been volunteering for WAG for a year and a half. During this time I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of very dedicated people who give of their time "for the dogs." Debbie, Pat and Charlotte are wonderful leaders of this organization, giving of lots and lots of their time to make sure that WAG is living up to its mission. Without a building, it is amazing how many dogs have been cared for through the foster homes, thus helping the animals recover, rehab, learn how to be part of a family, and to be loved. It has been and is a very gratifying experience for me, and I certainly plan to continue to help in whatever way I can.
