We Spark has given me support and knowledge to move in a positive direction. Have found I am not alone, and have met and receive a safe place to share and grow. I want to thank We Spark for all the support and programs to help to move forward with the worst call I receive that I had Cancer, to now having programs and support to grown and become the person I am today. Thank you all at We Spark.
WeSpark has been a great support for my dealing and my experience with breast cancer. When I first got cancer everything goes so fast you are in a tail spin of the unknown. Doctors, test, surgery, then more surgery, answers you receive are vague. First I got a call from my provider, that I had breast cancer, then within three month I had four surgeries. Thanks God they referred me to WeSpark for support. I found people who we knowledgeable and who cared, how you felt and what you were experiencing. A safe place to go to talk about your cancer, your fears and how to move forward. All the classes yoga, mediation, support groups so you could talk about medical concerns, emotional issues, phyical issues, and the fear of the cancer returning. WeSpark have been a major part of my recovery. I am not alone, I have a safe place to go, and be with people who understand and are willing to listen. The faciliators and other people with cancer have been a great support. I would recommend WeSpark 150% if someone needed a place to go. I want to thank all of the great people at WeSpark for their kindnesss and support.
WeSPARK is a phenomenal organization that does wonders for the community and beyond! One of my dearest friends is a WeSPARK employee and her love for the organization and the good that it does never ceases to amaze me. Their work is invaluable to the population that it serves, offering a plethora of support opportunities that enhance the healing process for cancer patients, both physically and, more importantly, spiritually. The city of Los Angeles is truly indebted to WeSpark for its work with and promotion of alternative therapies, making them an ideal candidate for the 2009 Cancer Fighters Award. --Jennifer
WeSPARK is an unbelievable place. The support offered here is unmatched. I feel grateful that it exists. Knowing that my good friend was well supported through this organization while she was going through the toughest fights of her life has made me so grateful.
I am so thankful for WeSpark. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July of last year. It was an extremely scary and difficult time for me. WeSpark was referred to me by one of my doctor's. I'm not a person who feels comfortable doing therapy sessions, and wasn't sure what to expect. But I decided to give it a try and I am so glad I did. I started off in the "in treatment group". I felt very supported there and was surprised to find that even though each one of us was at various stages of our treatment, and suffered from different types of cancer, that in a lot of cases we were all dealing with the same issues. I developed a bond with quite a few people in the group. When my treatment was over, I was moved to the "post treatment" group - that was in January. And I've been going to weekly sessions ever since. Pamela is a wonderful counselor and the people in that group are people I have bonded with and consider my friends. I feel very supported and am so thankful for that. While I had a lot of support from my sister and my friends during my initial diagnosis and surgeries, that support seemed to drop off after that point. WeSpark gave me the support I needed to deal with my treatment and to help me move on with my life and not let cancer rule it. I have ups and downs, but I know I always have a place to go to and talk about my issues and get suggestions and support. Thank you so much WeSpark and Kim and Pamela for everything!
I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to write a review of weSPARK. We know how busy everyone is. I also want you to know how touched all of us by your stories and reviews, which motivate us to work even harder than ever to serve all your needs. We have also read all your suggestions and have taken them to heart and we are striving to make weSPARK better than ever. Again, thanks to everyone.
I was fortunate enough to help my mom with her successful fight with breast cancer. I went to weSpark ahead of bringing my mom there and found some of the nicest, kind and knowledgeable people I have ever met. I cant really put into words how much my moms expereince there helped in her treatment and after treatment life.
At WeSPARK, you can't help but to feel at home. It's not just not just a place, but an extended family, as from the moment you step foot in the door you can see just how much the staff truely cares. I can't think of a better place to go for support.
A wonderful organization for anyone battling cancer. Helpful staff and great support. You can't battle this disease alone, so join a support group or take a healing yoga class or just share experiences and information.....
WeSpark is a place of friendship, support and love. I have spent time there and have learned how to live with Breast Cancer. They welcome the whole family. the programs they offer are great and the seminars are even better. The Cancer Community needs more places like WeSpark.
WeSPARK was a soft place to fall for my daughter and me during our struggle with her lymphoma. Nobody "gets it" like the staff and those who sre in in all phases of the cancer journey.
I had a friend tell me that she was 22 years old and diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins. As expected, she was lost, did not know where to go and who to turn to for help and to listen. I told her about WeSpark, that she should call and get help. That same day, she called and they set her up to speak to someone. I felt I helped her, but I also felt good about WeSpark being there to begin with. WeSpark is a place to heal, grow, form new friendships, but especially a place you can lean on when times are tough.
I support WeSPARK Cancer Support Center because my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago. She received a lot of support from her local (Iowa) cancer support center -- and I know how much it meant to her. So I support WeSPARK in honor of my sister Nancy. Carol Geisbauer
Where do I start-when I found out I had non hodgkins lymphoma---I was in shock--a friend suggested I talk to someone--We Spark was highly recommended---I emailed over there and within minutes Bonnie called me back--set up an appointment for the next day--she got me focused and was firm about me signing up for everything...I was so overwelmed with kindness that I remember saying what can I do for WE SPARK?...she said "don't do nothing, just take care of yourself...WE SPARK was my angel BIG TIME!
I started going to WeSPARK a year after my breast cancer diagnosis, as I was depressed and had found nothing to help me move on with my life. I loved the different groups they had, from Yoga, support groups, comedy workshops, and an assortment of others. All the women there were wonderful and I met some tremendously strong men and women. The only reason I don't go anymore is I moved out of the area. They are a fabulous group and well deserved of your support. Thank you Marie Harrington Mariposa, CA
We spark is a great organization. Filled with lots of love and great family programs. They are compassionate and caring people. If I knew anyone battling cancer I would absolutely send them to the WeSPARK Cancer Support Center.
The founder of this organization (WendiJo Sperber) a beautiful human being, worked tirelessly and dedicatedly to make WeSpark into a top notch nonprofit. She was an inspiration to us all and her work is carried on by dedicated and loving people who really care about you. I highly recommend this organization. The people here touch your lives and see possibilities...In living life fully with the hand that is dealt and in finding new ways to cope and deal. A hug when needed, an ear and helpful programs to make what is normally a confusing and difficult time much smoother and a more hopeful experience. Thanks for all that you do!
WeSpark has been a tremendous place of support for me as a caregiver. I was first greeted with a warm intake interview where I was able to talk and share my experience with someone who finally understood what I was going through. A caregiver support group was offered to me which I attended regularly on Thursdays. Again, it was a place where I could cry and get my feelings out with others who were going through the same thing as I. I myself have received great benefits from other therapy's offered there, such as Qi Gong, Raiki therapy and hypno-therapy/guided imagery. WeSpark is a place where I know I can go any time for emotional support, to relax or just escape from the realities of my situation. Frankly, I don't know what I would do without the haven and services offered there. It has truly been a blessing on my life.
My friend has received so much support and services during her recovery from cancer such as contacs and tai chi classes. i think that center is the best thing that can happen to a cancer patient when it regards to support and eccovery.
I have seen first hand how wonderful an impact WeSpark has on its volunteers, clients, and community members! A close friend has been volunteering with WeSpark for awhile now and her stories alone of the work and classes she does warms my heart. She and the organization have been incredibly welcoming. What an amazing organization! Thank you!
We Spark kept my friends moving in a positive direction. They were able to deal with marital and personal issues related to the cancer in their family currently. I vote for this organziation for the award.
