The Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund is an amazing non-profit that has uplifted the status of women by getting resources to the areas where it is most needed.
Having funded our organization (Enabled to Enable) twice, I can attest that no donation made to VGIF is wasted because they are dream builders.
From the expression of gratitude of a girl who formerly lived on the streets, to the joy of a poor widow who no longer has to struggle to feed her children to school or the dance of groups of women who never had a source of income but now have acquired a skill and are earning income and the fulfilment in the heart of a blind woman who can now make her beads for a living or the young girl with low vision that can learn better because she now has basic knowledge of computer appreciation through accessible computer training, or opening doors for new partnerships, the list is endless.
Our VGIF grant originally intended to train 500 women and girls and 50 boys has trained over 1000 women and girls till date and we are still counting. VGIF is not just empowering women but investing in women, girls, their families, communities, nations and their future. Thank you VGIF and every donor, board member, staff and volunteers that make your work possible.
The Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund is a vision builder, a voice for grassroots women who would have otherwise remained silent.
Someone once said that when a woman is given the tools she needs to succeed, she creates a ripple effect of positive change for herself, her family and society. Growing up with a physical disability; it has always been my desire to help less fortunate women and girls and VGIF made that dream come true. With their support, 200 women and girls with and without disabilities have been economically empowered through skills acquisition training in my community and we are still counting.
VGIF has greatly built our capacity as an organization and helped us establish credibility within and outside our community.
Thank you for giving these women the opportunity to be not just great caregivers but change makers, together "empowering women one community at a time"!

VGIF is supporting projects which improve women’s condition and help women’s organizations to solve problems which are crucial for their society.
Women’s Center ( www.womancenter.org.ge) is one of such organizations which VGIF funded for implementation of projects on GBV in Georgia. It gave us possibility to protect women’s rights and health through raising awareness on GBV among university students , creating network, preparing community educators, training health care professionals on yearly reveal cases, implementing screening of pregnant women on domestic violence, which contribute in the rehabilitation of national health system
It was our please to work with this organization. They have highly qualified staff who in reality understand problem which is specific to each country. Unfortunately VGIF can give small grants which are not enough for implementation of projects independently and always we are looking for other donor which cover salaries, office expenses and etc.
I kindly ask US philanthropy community to support VGIF in increasing donations as their marvelous work has direct impact on women’s organization in the world.

We are grateful to Virginia Gildersleeve International for the financial support extended to PeerLink Initiative Uganda (PELI-U) in implementing Teenage Pregnancy Prevention and Sexual Reproductive Health/HIV/AIDS Education for rural girls’ project. Through this project we have sensitized 288 primary school pupils, 316 secondary school students, 40 community leaders and 40 parents. We have trained 16 Peer Helpers and 13 teachers and equipped them with skills to handle sexual reproductive health and teenage pregnancy related challenges. The participating youth are more confident and openly discuss challenges they face, stakeholders acknowledge their role in reducing teenage pregnancy incidences. We have also learnt that teenage pregnancy prevention calls for collective responsibility by all community stakeholders.

Asociación Alforjas is very grateful to VGIF because thanks to the grant we have been able to develop a project to give support to original weavers from Argentina.
This project gave artisans the possibility to have access to better quality raw material, more equipment as well as improve marketing strategies thus, enhancing their works quality and making their activity known.
Asociación Alforjas has found in VGIF clever interpreters capable to understand the problematic stated and with ability to make comments and suggestions which have been very useful to us.
