I am not homeless anymore because I live at Turning point, and I am working towards permanent move on accommodation. I'm applying for my ssi while managing my emotional issues well, steadily re-building my family relationships.

The management is very devoted and they do a great job. I'm grateful that my friend Patty pointed me to such a great organization. This lets me bring my company in as a group to prepare dinner at the shelter

The staff at Turning Point Center was very helpful from the moment I walked in the gate. As I walked the site people kept pointing me in the right direction. Jeff laid out what TPC needed & gave me the information needed.

We are looking forward to volunteering here again to help out with the sorting and other tasks to make sure all of the food gets to where it needs to be. This organization is fantastic and I highly recommend

I volunteer there now with St. Luke, but you can volunteer there as an individual or with another group ( church groups, school groups, and employers). It's very easy to volunteer - just call up. And do not worry about being a first-timer; they provide all training you need.

We are here now volunteering and can't belive how nice this facility is. I also saw several groups from corporations that were there to volunteer - I thought that was an awesome idea & definitely will be bringing it back to my company for the 2011 fiscal year

They do such wonderful work feeding the poor and homeless. Giving back to the community and tirelessly donating their time and effort to a wonderful cause is what they do best.

Had a absolutely great volunteering experience. I'm not sure about how hard/easy it was to get a volunteer time slot. When we got there, they started off with a mini orientation about the organization and then provided an explanation as to what task we would be helping out with. Instructions were pretty clear and they were definitely organized. The staff members were nothing but nice, but I have to say the fact that they were organized made for a fun and meaningful experience

My sorority alumnae group had an opportunity to volunteer at The Turning Point Center a few weekends ago just before the winter freeze. I must say that I have never volunteered for a more organized group! You start out your morning bright & early (8:30am) with an orientation and then you are sent to work until your break around 10:30. The day ends at 12:30 and you leave feeling "warm & fuzzy." (Cliche, I know, but it's so true!)

2/26/2011 Volunteering here was one of the best experiences of my life. I got together with a group of people and we cooked dinner for a packed house!

We cooked breakfast for dinner and when we were done we got a standing ovation from our guests which brought tears to my eyes. When I was serving the food one person stopped me and thanked me for looking him in the eyes and smiling at him. He said they dont get that very often on the streets and it made him feel human.

I volunteered at Turning Point Center Homeless Shelter today. This was the first time I have ever actually been inside a homeless Shelter. It was soo clean and very nice inside. The group I was with cooked a meal for the homeless and then served it to them and ate with them. If you are looking for a good way to get involved in your community and help others this is a great place to start volunteering at!

Turning Point Center shelter is a place for woman and men to feel safe and communicate with others in their situation, i would say it is a support group. i stayed in the Shelter in 2001, i would say i won my independence including 3 apts for 7 years. just recently i find myself needing the help, shelter, and spiritual guidance of transitional living center.

This is a year for me, where God has given me the spirit of giving to the needy. I want to share with the ones who feel they are left out! The one who feels that, God doesn't love you. I stand in the gap to show that he loves you and also touches people to be there on you behave. It's not about the gifts you give when God's children are in need. My Christmas was made complete I went from living behinfd the gas station on Longpoint to moving in the Turning Point Shelter. They show love by sowing in other people lives. Read Acts ch. 10 the given of "alms". People of God get on your duty post and lets serve in Jesus name!!!!! Be Blessed. BLESS TURNING POINT

We came in a group of 8 plus our mentors from Church of Jesus Christ we helped input the people who live there reviews (the ones who had never used a computer) It was so nice to take the tour and I know we all learned so much. After we sat in the courtyard and played games with the people who wanted to participate and it was a fun fun day! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

In the generosity of residents, some have shared with me their stories. Stories of bravery to overcome that which would defeat them, to become part of their own solution to rejuvenating and redirecting their lives. They have found another chance here. Whatever circumstances brought them here, they are working diligently with the amazing resources of help getting aid, jobs, etc. to rebuild lives. They are being given that which is most precious - hope. The founder, at sacrifice to herself and against all "American dream" convention, sold her home and started this because she wanted to help people. And that is precisely what she has done and continues to do with well-thought out vision.

Today Feburary 26,2011 I helped out by simply being a friend, and nothing more. By playing a game with a man by the name of Tomas and actually in the end Im pretty sure he taught me more about dominos then I think I have ever known. We played games and just talked about life. I learned that he has 5 borhers and 4 sisters, and that he is the baby of the family. It was amazing to see somebody across the table from me with a completly diffrent outlook on life and still have somewhat of a connection. Together we just enjoyed one another companies in this amazing facility and had a great time!!!
