I've worked in the sector for 17 years as everything from well driller to operations director to communications director. I got to personally see The Water Project's work in Kenya and it was the most transformative work I've ever seen. It was everything everyone in the water sector says they are in terms of improving economy, agriculture, hygiene, environment, livestock, etc. few water projects really do impact all these areas but this TWP work was.
Who can deny the transformative power of clean and safe water? The Water Project continues to stand out in its commitment to providing clean and safe water in rural communities across three African countries, namely Kenya, Sierra Leone, and Uganda. Where people, in some cases, had to walk long distances in search of water. Through the work of The Water Project, many community members in the areas where they are implementing sustainable water points no longer have to walk long distances in search of clean water. The Water Project also provides unmatchable operation and maintenance support to all the water points they have implemented and quarterly functionality monitoring to ensure the sustainability of all its water points.
The Water Project is a group of people tied together across continents, all striving to bring water access to the neediest people in the most impacted areas of sub-Saharan Africa. The Water Project is known for sharing the results of each donation with each donor and providing real-time data about each of its water projects for years after each project's implementation. That's their bread and butter. But they also extend this exceptional integrity to their donors, many of whom they create personal relationships with, and to their staff members in the United States and Africa. Donors can see the passion The Water Project's employees bring to their work because it's easy to be passionate about a cause and an organization that you believe in so much. The Water Project is run by good people trying their best at jobs they care about - what more could you ask for in a nonprofit?
The Water Project is an organization passionate about seeing people flourish when clean water becomes accessible. This is an organization that brings together experts from Kenya, Uganda, Sierra Leone, UAE, and the USA to tackle one of the biggest problems of our age- A global water crisis where 2.2 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water, and over half the global population lacks safe sanitation. Sustainability is key. The Water Project is committed to long term progress. Their work is goes deep in focused geographic areas, and they understand that the solution lies in people- people who can work together to build expanding networks of clean water access. This value of building strong relationships shines in the brilliant reports and blogs where the voices of people closest to the problems and active in the solutions are prominent. Year after year the impact that this org has is extraordinary.
The Water Project is an exceptional organization focused on truly helping communities in Africa obtain clean drinking water. The way they work, manage projects, engage the community and college students is just exceptional. They partner so well with so many other organizations to make things happen and while they run very lean, they achieve amazing results with a very dedicated and passionate staff.
