The Jazz Gallery is an essential jazz venue in NYC. They are always on the lookout for cutting-edge music and have introduced many young, emerging musicians to the world. The Jazz Gallery team is so supportive and friendly; this venue has a special atmosphere that makes you feel like you're at "home". Not only as a musician but also as an audience member, I greatly admire what they have been doing and I think this venue will continue to be a symbol of the bright future of New York's jazz scene.

The Jazz Gallery has become like a second home for me. They were one of the first venues in Manhattan to invite me to perform my music at the very beginning of my career in New York.

Over the years, they have included me in their incredible family of world class musicians, and in 2015, The Jazz Gallery commissioned me to write an hour of new music that I never would have written without their support and belief in my abilities. They provided the means, the deadline, audience members, promotional support, and the stage, sound, and lights for me to create and realize a new expression of my artistry. What a gift!!

The Jazz Gallery is one of the few remaining organizations in New York that truly supports the creation of NEW music. As a believer in the importance of artists nurturing a constantly evolving artistry, having support from a place like the Jazz Gallery is essential to the evolution of music.

It is hard to put into a paragraph how essential and important The Jazz Gallery is to New York city. Not only does the venue serve as a temple of knowledge to both the upcoming and established musicians, The Jazz Gallery also offers the most interesting concerts in jazz and contemporary music. It is obvious their musical/ artistic vision is one step ahead. The Jazz Gallery has served such an important role in capturing and supporting both the established and upcoming artists. The acoustics are amazing and the staff is educated and very passionate about jazz and music in general. All of this and not to mention their initiative to not only participate as a venue but to also always find a way to build interesting bridges between artist and listener.

I've been to The Jazz Gallery as both a performer and an audience member and I can say with confidence that this is one of the best venues in NYC. The staff and management are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is one always primed for high quality music. It's no wonder that the Jazz Gallery always features the most in demand professionals from a wide array of musical backgrounds. I would recommend the gallery to anyone looking to see fantastic music in a comfortable and intimate setting.

The Jazz Gallery is one of NYC's most vital creative components. For many years the institution has been instrumental in putting on some of the most forward thinking and innovative music. Besides being a world-class venue, it is a hub for creativity and fosters a community by means of residency commissions, mentoring programs, clinics and much more. I've benefitted greatly from all that the Jazz Gallery offers and hope to do so for years to come.

The Jazz Gallery is one of the most important breeding grounds for improvised music worldwide. Their programming is audacious and varied. Most importantly, it is an established venue in New York City that is not afraid to take chances by giving younger musicians the opportunity to lead a band. This is an incredibly rare feat. Having been able to perform at the Jazz Gallery has been of invaluable importance to me as a musician.

The Jazz Gallery is an essential organization for the NYC jazz scene and a standard bearer for the world to look to when it comes to showcasing innovation and progress in composition, improvisation, and performance from the artists they present.

They provide an invaluable service through presenting artists both new and established in an environment that fosters creativity and integrity.

As a first time bandleader, The Jazz Gallery walked me through all the necessary steps to get the most out of my performance both from a musical and professional standpoint. Their guidance and help were invaluable in making my performance a success and helped my project gain greater visibility.

Thank you!

Jazz Gallery is home to many veterans as well as up-and-comers in the jazz world. To me it exemplifies music for music's sake! It is innovative in its programming. Jazz Gallery is vital to have a place where musicians can experiment and feel free to do so. I feel grateful that I am amongst the community of listeners and appreciators of the music. I personally recommend Jazz Gallery as a venue to anyone who wants to hear the same quality music as a Village Vanguard or Blue Note, but who doesn't want to spend $60/ set. Jazz Gallery is affordable and the experience of hearing such great music in an intimate space should be a destination for anybody who loves jazz!

The Jazz Gallery is the most non-pretentious Jazz venue in New York. It has nurtured my abilities to create new works of art in my drawings that I do while musicians are in performance. In some ways, I would not have such a close connection with art and music were it not for Jazz Gallery. Sure I can make art on any subject and I can listen to music at home. But Jazz Gallery is about opportunities to listen to great music as it is taking shape with importance placed on the musicians development. In this way, I have become a better artist and a better appreciator of this great form and ever-changing music.

The Jazz Gallery is THE most important place for the development of jazz music in New York City. Virtually all of the major movements and innovations in jazz over the past decade were initiated at the Jazz Gallery. It has long had a reputation as an incubator of the finest talent, where musicians are encouraged to develop their craft, which by definition shapes the development of the wider art form in a profound and lasting way. The Jazz Gallery is directly responsible for shaping the NYC and therefore the global jazz music scene. Personally speaking, it has provided me with countless opportunities to perform and try out new ideas and new music. I have benefitted immensely from all of the opportunities the Jazz Gallery has provided me, and it has been an integral part of my development as an artist. I know that countless other musicians feel the same way. Simply the best and most important organization that exists for jazz music today, anywhere.

The Jazz Gallery is easily my favorite place to hear music or to play music in New York City. The work they do is outstanding in promoting new artists and it has become one of the most important cultural institutions in the city, if not the country. It has given many young jazz musicians a platform to experiment, yielding some of the most creative music happening today, which in turn has kickstarted many young careers. The integrity of what they do and the music always remains intact. A very important place.

There is nowhere else in New York City that does what The Jazz Gallery does. No other venue is as thoughtfully curated and offers as many services to its musical family and its music loving patrons. As a musician relatively new to the city and the jazz community, The Jazz Gallery's support of my music and my career has been invaluable. Going way beyond offering my band a place to play, they have opened their doors in off hours for rehearsals and have even offered critical advice and co-writen grant proposals with me. They are one-of-a-kind, and a necessity to New York's music community.

As the musician I have had the opportunity to present me in in Jazz Gallery. The personnel offers clear information about the programmatic and logistic aspects of the contracting. The space promotes an open, diverse cultural dynamics to all the musical styles with great level.
As the guitarist, arranger, singer and composer of the duet Gema and Pavel I have had the opportunity to promote the concept of the Afro-Cuban music in NY through my presentations in the Jazz Gallery. They provided a cultural scene without parallels in that city. Is a supportive, welcoming, and comfortable environment with the professionals of the music and its followers.

Of course living in New York, it's easy to get spoiled by all the great clubs and music venues. That said, Jazz Gallery stands out as an unique atmosphere, where the jazz lover can enjoy world class musicians, in an intimate setting, in which artists are invited to explore and experiment beyond what they might be able to do in other venues...
Because the Jazz Gallery survives not solely on ticket sales, the space is able to and has become famous for providing fertile ground in which new projects, concepts, and modes of expression within the jazz idiom can take root and be shared.

I'm proud to have performed on the stage, and am always fulfilled and delighted when I have the privilege of attending one of their always outstanding concerts. Certainly unique in it's field, (in fact in the U.S. there are VERY few venues operating at such a successful and publicly accesibe level)

The Jazz Gallery deserves 10 stars in my opinion

The Gallery has become a laboratory over the last decade, nurturing new ideas and offering a forum for their implementation. Improvised music is one of the most fascinating arts around, and the process of presenting jazz in a non commercial manner has given the Gallery a unique persona. Plus, the sense of community the space has created has widened the pool of participants. There are a number of aesthetic slants at play during their annual calendar, and brings together a disparate cross section of artistic sensibilities.

Like many other jazz musicians coming up in the NYC jazz scene, the Jazz Gallery gave me my first opportunity to lead a band a NY jazz venue. Their mission, which is to support the future of jazz, is so very important to not only the jazz community, but to the arts community as a whole. When you go to see shows at the Jazz Gallery, its just you and the musicians. Its so much more than just a music venue, its a community center thats open to anyone. Places like this are so necessary in the often-pretentious music scene. By supporting the Jazz Gallery you are investing in the future.

I love Jazz, and I generally don't enjoy Jazz clubs. The typical combination of cave-like ambiance and mandatory drinks is irritating. The Jazz gallery offers a great mix of emerging and established artists, in a simple, pleasant environment that lets the audience focus on the music. More clubs should be like this.

The Jazz Gallery is a historic space devoted solely to creative freedom and innovation in music. Many years from now, when we're long gone, future generations will be able to track the break-throughs in jazz and many other art forms to places like the Jazz Gallery. Musicians and music-lovers alike need and deserve a place to explore and expand the art and of course, to enjoy music without the pressure to purchase and consume, or draw a crowd.

The atmosphere is respective and professional, clean and humble. There are no frills and no extra gimmicks, just great music by the brightest and brilliant artists.

P.S. its a great date spot.

My husband and I have been going to the Jazz Gallery for years and became members a couple of years ago. In addition to offering a nurturing environment for artists, the JG provides a sense of community for listeners who love jazz and who rely on live performance for restoration of the spirit and senses. It's intimate, welcoming, free of distraction and attracts interesting people across the spectrum of age, class, race and culture. The entry price is affordable enough to warrant frequent visits and members enjoy additional benefits, including an annual holiday party. The JG is a rare GEM and a tremendous asset to NYC.
