I have been a Heart Smiles sponsor for 6 years now. This summer I traveled to Ghana and took my 21 year old daughter with me to spend three weeks there with the kids and the founder, Ama Bonsu. We saw first hand and experienced in the flesh what this charity does for the kids. I saw where every penny goes, and saw how happy and healthy the kids are. The village children came daily to look on, and I wish they fared as well. Through specific earmarked donations from sponsors, THS also sponsored a village health fair, giving free medical checkups, food, and medicines to the local people. It was glorious and SO needed. I have known Ama for going on seven years, and never have I met a more genuine honest person with more integrity and love in their heart. She lives to help these children. There is not a more deserving charity, nor one so hard won through the work of one woman with a mission and a dream to serve others. I am honored to be a part and call her friend, and truly blessed to sponsor 8 children financially and 54 spiritually and emotionally. The call me "Mama Lisa" and no other name sounds as sweet. Half my heart is in Ghana forever.
I donate to several charities for children, but this one is closest to my heart. Started by one woman and a dream to spend her life helping children. I see their efforts continually compounded, their joys and sorrows are open and honest, and I receive continual updates on not only the children K sponsor, but the others as well. Photo updates on the building progress, and all of the aspects of aid they provide. I know board members personally and some life long, and can vouch for the utmost integrity. I am a monthly supporter of 3 siblings, having started with one child. I will continue to support more children through Heart Smiles as I am able. They give all they can for the children.
The organization is really changing the lives of children in Ghana, I'm working with the organization in Ghana. The children are health and always happy, the organization is bringing out the future of these children. God bless Ama and her team members to continue doing this great work.
I know the founder and the president of the board and know that every dime raised goes to the children in Ghana. I love being a volunteer for them and a sponsor for little Margaret, while my husband sponsors Bruce, whose feet were straightened through the collaboration with this foundation, Catholic Charities in Ghana and the amazing Doctors Without Borders. I am proud to be a volunteer with The Heart Smiles Organization
It has been a distinct pleasure to be associated with such a driven group of volunteers with The Heart Smiles Foundation. The children in Ghana who were having to take care of each other inspired the name of the foundation. Because people care enough, these children now have a childhood,an education, and nutritious meals and healthcare. My heart smiles when I see the picture of the two 7 year old twins whom my husband and I sponsor. What a positive impact for their corner of the world!
This non-profit organization is the best organization I've ever been associated with. I have seen firsthand how HeartSmiles has blessed some many children in such a relatively short amount of time. From getting the children to school and educated to building them a place to call home with running water! One remarkable lady had a vision to help those less fortunate then herself...and she definitely has! I absolutely love to see my sponsored child thriving and it's all thanks to Ama Osei-Bonsu and her dream come true! ❤️
I met Ama Osei-Bonsu at work. She told me about her cause and I was captivated by her passion to give back to her country. I have shared her mission with others; patients, staff, friends, and family. All the compassion and love this organization demonstrates should be an example to the world...if we all pay it forward and remember someone, somewhere did the same for us...we would all be so much better off. Special thanks to Ama for introducing me to this organization and I look forward to working with her and the others in the near future.

Fantastic group of ladies! They are passionate about what they each can do to make a difference in the lives of the children in Ghana. I'm blessed to play a small part in their outreach.
I have recently become a volunteer for The Heart Smiles, I am so happy to have been given this opportunity. I really appreciate the openness to any and all information provided directly by Ama and the board members. I can't wait to travel to Ghana so I can really dig in and help all these kids that are in such desperate need of our basic needs like daily meals, clean water, and of course shelter. I am so fond of this organization I not only donate my time but also money. Knowing this organization I KNOW every penny I give goes straight to those kids - an unheard of thing in this day and age!
I have volunteered with The Heart Smiles because from the moment I met their team, I knew that their hearts and their vision was TOTAL dedication to help the orphans of Ghana. I couldn't believe that they were 100% volunteer and that even their director received no financial benefit from running the group. This is the type of team I hope to be a part of for years. I've told my friends about them and now I'd like to tell you - come check out The Heart Smiles and see all that we are doing to better the lives of these precious little ones!
I've worked several different fund raising events with this organization from garage sales to parties and each one has been a great experience that left me feeling like I really made a difference. Additionally I travelled with the group to Ghana to deliver supplies and meet with local officials, contractors, community members and of course the children. It was a truly extraordinary experience that I would gladly do again. Everyone involved with The Heart Smiles gives freely of themselves, their time and money with no expectation of compensation beyond the good feeling that comes with helping other people.
I have donated to and participated in numerous events to help The Heart Smiles. By means of fundraisers and community events, this organization is changing lives for orphans in Ghana. The organization has participated in carnivals, garage sales, dinners, parties, galas, jewelry sales, and craft sales. There is no opportunity this group will not take to ensure that others know these children and the life they deserve.
I have seen first hand how The Heart Smiles has positively impacted lives not only locally but around the world. This organization through the hands and hearts of its volunteers and selfless board members is an example to our society. I gladly support The Heart Smiles and hope they get the recognition they deserve.
