Mission: The Gay Christian Network (GCN) is the preeminent interdenominational organization supporting LGBT Christians and those who love them. GCN provides resources and support to help individuals reconcile their faith and sexuality, builds interconnected networks of supportive Christian communities, and works with families, friends, and churches to create respectful dialogue on sexual orientation issues. GCN is best known for its moderated online "safe space" community, where over 13,000 people offer one another support, prayer, fellowship, and understanding in an affirming faith-based environment. This crucial support outlet is available to anyone in the world with an internet connection and regularly saves the lives of teens and adults alike. GCN's weekly podcast, YouTube video series, and Bible study materials educate and inspire gay and straight Christians around the world, while the organization's annual conference, welcoming church network, and local groups provide important face-to-face opportunities for worship, support, and community. GCN's groundbreaking new documentary, Through My Eyes, chronicles the interactions of conservative churches and gay Christian youth and is already changing hearts and minds in the church in a profound way to promote the full support of LGBT people.

GCN has been a place of hope and community for me. One can post prayer requests and get support when in the lowest of times - often, for many of us, when we come out and our fellow Christians denigrate and hurt us. Finding support - even if it is from someone far away - is essential to our learning to accept ourselves. I have not personally experienced organized in-person community on a more local or regional basis in person through GCN; perhaps that is an area for improvement.

The work of The Gay Christian Network is not something you can quantify. You can't put it into words. You can't fit it into a box. The kind of work organizations like GCN do is life-giving. It, in a few inadequate words, allows the "gay" person or the person with "same-sex attractions" to experience that they are loved - whether they act out on those feelings or not. GCN loves and affirms one where they are. There is no pressure. There is a prayer board. There is discussion. There is community. I have experienced the power of the love and concern of people for me that I have never met before; a kind of love and support that literally keeps you going. Things can be dark in this world for someone with gay feelings - sometimes especially within religious settings. To hear that God loves you no matter what anyone has to say about it - no matter what your position is on whatever - is something I can't describe. Non-profits like GCN undoubtedly deserve our respect and appreciation.

GCN has helped me stay grounded in my faith when the rest of the world tells me that I'm wrong. Without GCN i don't know where my faith would be today! It's made me so strong and I don't have anymore doubts!

GCN is an organization that has been helping folks who are struggling with reconciling their sexual orientation with their faith. I have been heavily involved with them for three years, and have seen first hand the difference that this organization has made in the lives of those who are members and those who seek guidance and support. Often, this organization is among the first contacts a person makes on their journey of reconciliation. The staff, while modest in numbers, is augmented by over 100 volunteer leaders and many thousands of active members.

GCN is the most amazing group of Christian people. 3 years my life was a mess I was attending a church that did not accept homosexuals. I would attend church and pray that the Lord would fix me and all week I would push back all my thought s and feelings holding them inside. never talking about them for fear that my family and church family would hate me as much as i hated myself. Then one day I will never forget it I sat at the computer and a google search for gay Christians. What I found was my new church home. I was welcomed with open arms and told that I was ok, that it is ok to be me. I joined in the message boards and quickly made friends that will be in my life forever. Through those Godly friendships I learned that it is ok to be gay and that Gods love is not only for the perfect christian man that walks the straight and narrow. but God loves me just as I am. I threw open the doors of the closet and and stepped out about 3 months after finding GCN and I have never looked back.

GCN is a place where I can go as a person of faith; a catholic gay man.I can go there to chat with other gay catholics and the broad church of christianity. So many gay & lesbian people recieve negative messages from their faiths that this place is truly special in that it is affirming and has something for every type of christian. I can do this whether I be in the warmth of a place where i am accepted, tolerated and valued by my fellow human beings or on one of those cold days when I have heard or experienced hate. St Francis said "that in giving we recieve..." so additionally on this site i can support others in heir faith and human struggle to live.

During chapters of my life when I had no brick-&-mortar faith community to speak of, GCN offered me the loving support and empowering community that I needed in order to grow further in my faith & be reconciled to my identity as a gay person. From the few years I spent as an active posting member there, I experienced and witnessed countless others experience transformation directly as a result of access to other faithful gay Christians and so many loving allies. The effect of GCN on my young adult life is not to be underestimated. I regard them as highly worthy of any available funding or institutional support.

The Gay Christian Network is like no other network in the world! It has encouraged me many times when I was feeling low. I'm so glad to be included in the world of networks because GCN makes it possible.

Please understand that it's important to me that this network stays "on" because it makes it seem that I count! I have a voice in what goes on in the world! I hope that if you haven't taken the time to look into this network, that you will now do it. You'll no doubt see what I see in that it makes it possible for me to be included . . . and you too!

GCN has been both an inspiration and a resource to touch others who need friendship, prayers or advice with coping in a world that often turns a blind eye to diversity.
I have made some lasting friendships through GCN's resources because GCN is full of real people just like you and me. It's not only an online community of hope...people have extended their social 'real life' networks via the message boards and available Conferences and workshops offered by GCN and it's staff. To receive and give support in a 'safe' environment where individuals meet and find that they are not alone in their spiritual and personal journeys is a great asset in this day and time.

I found this site via a friend, and while online found out about the annual conference, having experience in the production side of events like this, I volunteered to help design, program and run the lighting for this event. While doing this, I found that I got far more out of the event than I ever could have ever imagined.

I was married for 21 years, and have two children. My wife and I served as Associate Pastors, and then as missionaries in Africa for a total of 8 years in ministry. Until recently, I have had a difficult time bringing my faith together with my sexuality. Reading GCN gives me hope and support as I continue that journey....

As a gay man living in a very conservate community it is enlightning to have an online community where I can be with others like myself that are discovering and working on their relationship with God! We are all on different religious paths but with GCN we come together as one.

This network really helped me through one of the toughest times in my life. Being gay and fighting cancer, i felt like I had no where to turn. But this network changed all that for me. It helped me see through the storm I was in. The lord and jesus christ are apart of my everyday life cause of the GCN.

GCN saves lives! It it one of the most important on line gay support groups out there. So many gay Christians face discrimination in their churches and challenges to their faith from false doctrine taught in many churches. Sadly so many gay Christians have no place to turn for support and correct theology that teaches that GOD DOES love them!
GCN saved my life...restored my faith and gave me a network of support that is now my family..GOD BLESS GCN!!!!!

I am a parent of a gay child and I am very pleased that the Gay Christian Network has been established. I know it has been a source of comfort tom many gay Christians that I have advised.

Too many gays feel that they have been bodily thrown out of the church and experience such deep pain in their hearts.

The Gay Christian Network provides the hope that someday, more Christians will be able to open their minds and their hearts and accept all of God's creations.
