The instructors at the Center for Contemporary Dance are very engaging. You can tell they love children and really have a passion for dance that they want to share. This organization has come out to our elementary school and taught dance to large classes once or twice a year, and the students love every minute of it! Each time they teach, the students learn something about dance, it's history, or cultural expression through dance. As they dance, students learn a little technique, participate in a little fitness, while immersing themselves in the fun and enjoying the chance for self expression.
The Center for Contemporary Dance is a mission-driven organization that exemplifies excellence in their art and in their management practices. Their work celebrates diversity and builds community. They are a treasure to Central Florida.
The Center For Contemporary Dance Inc is a very exceptional company. The environment is very welcoming to people of diverse backgrounds. The staff is very nice and caring of the needs of the students, parents, and guests. I really enjoy taking dance classes at this studio and I inform my friends to come check it out.
The dancers were strong, beautiful, and inspiring. My fourth and fifth grade students had a better appreciation for the arts after performing in our school's first year dance showcase (grades K-5). We will be continuing next year with the dance program.
CCD- Great teachers, great staff, professional instruction and performances in a non threatening, caring environment.
Every day it is my honor and privilege to teach the students at The Center for Contemporary Dance. A little over one year ago I found CCD online when I was searching for quality dance studios in the Orlando area. I was preparing to move from out of state, and I was nervous about finding my new dance home. From the very first time I entered CCD and spoke with Craig, I knew it was THE place for me. Through CCD I am able to teach a diverse group of students-- from ages two to forty and older. It is so rewarding to be able to teach and choreograph here. As one of the only studios in Orlando offering non-competitive dance training, we are able to focus our efforts on technical and artistic development. We also provide mentorship for our students who are preparing for college and beyond. What we do at CCD is more than just teaching dance steps-- we aim to enrich the lives of all our students and families through the art of dance. Through CCD I also have been able to continue my dance studies on a professional level so that I am constantly growing, challenging and advancing in my career. I have met a wealth of people at our school who refer to the center as "home" or "family." This lets me know we have something really special here in Winter Park. In addition to teaching Creative Movement, Ballet and Contemporary dance, I also have the unique experience of teaching dance for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This holds a special place in my heart because I have a family member who has Autism. It is both challenging and rewarding to serve this special needs population. We at CCD are community-oriented citizens who believe that dance is for EVERYONE, and we celebrate our diversity of shape, size, age, ethnicity and background. It's been my pleasure to continue learning and growing through this center as I teach, choreograph and perform within this great community.
I would like to thank Dario and Craig for having me (Niki Lin) as the 2011 Resident Artist, producing a 20+ year retrospective called Year of the Dragon in January 2012. CCD has also sponsored Orlando City Soccer "City Girls" for the 2011 and 2012 season. I recently saw Dario's Unplugged Solo show in May 2012 and was genuinely entertained by his diverse and raw emotional performance. He is truly an inspiration!
The Center for Contemporary Dance has provided rehearsal space for our dance team for nearly 2 years. They have been more than accommodating to our requests and we can not be more appreciative of what they have offered our dancers, as well as the dance community. The instructors encourage all levels of dancers to the best of their abilities. They provide a sound knowledge base of not only dance technique but a true understanding of the history of dance. CCD opens it's doors to all areas of dance and embraces the diversity of the Orlando community. Thank you CCD!
The Center for Contemporary Dance is a culturally diverse, unique organization which provides top class dance instruction and entertainment all ages can enjoy. CCD's community outreach in schools is to be commended. The Center is also very supportive of various other start up dance companies. There are truly wonderful people running this organization.
I've known Dario J. Moore from our days together at Ballethnic Dance Company in Atlanta, GA. He was a hard working performing and there were many numerous positive attributes that he absorbed that he is applying in running his Arts organization! He comes from a tradition of artistry that is equipped with influences from all the major schools of thought in the dance world, i.e.; Classical and Contemporary Ballet, Modern, Jazz and fusion work as well. The training bases range from School of American Ballet, Dance Theater of Harlem and the Juilliard School to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center as well. Its good to see what kind of a positive influence he is having on his community and I wish him and his colleagues well in their future endeavors!

My experience with The Center for Contemporary Dance has been completely positive. They are welcoming and passionate about their mission in the community and their dance. I actually hired them to present a professional Alvin Ailey modern dance show for a convention that booked through my company and they were amazing. It was exciting to watch them and interact with them at the event. I've additionally sent people to their studio and they have reported back how impressed they were at how they were treated. They said it was clear that the staff cared about them and the children showed a renewed spark of interest in their dance that hadn't been there before. They are very open and willing to embrace other dance professionals in the community and offer opportunities when they arise.
I am the Fine Arts chair at a Trinity Prep School in Winter Park, Florida. We are located right down the road from The Center for Contemporary Dance. Over the years of knowing and working with Craig and Dario, I have been both impressed by their artistic vision and blown away by the outreach that they do in the community. I also work with a group called the Jeremiah Project; it is an arts based program that targets at risk youth. While working with a local Boys and Girls club I met a young man who demonstrated talent and desire to learn to dance. I contacted Dario immediately, knowing that he would be someone who would find the means to scholarship this young man so that he could fulfill his dream of becoming a choreographer.
Our dance company, Yow Dance, recently began the application process for residency at The Center for Contemporary Dance. Long before this we were well aware of both Craig Johnson and Dario Moore, the two key role players at "The Center". Their reputation in our community is well known, not only in the dance community, but in the art and philanthropy communities especially, as is evidenced by the broad support they get from the well respected organization United Arts. As I have gotten to know the two gentlemen better, have seen them in action, and can now see first hand how their commitment to dance and the city of Orlando is most directly reflected by The Center for Contemporary Dance, I can see the dramatic impact on our community. Their mission to Produce, Encourage, Cultivate, and Reach is firmly in place and making a difference. Just last week I saw a performance put on by one of the companies that partner with The Center and can see with clarity that the dance organizations that call The Center home are well selected to carry forward the mission even more!
