TECH CORPS is an AMAZING organization that offered our daughter an opportunity of a lifetime. The programs that she was elected to attend in were very well structured, organized, and professionally ran by the staff of TECH CORPS. My daughter walked away from these programs with a welt of knowledge that she was able to apply during her academic school year. In addition, she was able to apply her learnings from Techie Camp outside of the classroom and into her acting. I can't say enough about how phenomenal TECH Corps is in a paragraph. The skills and exposure that she obtained through TECH Corps should be offered more frequently and we wish that we could have had a summer long program with this type of curriculum versus a weeklong. We all walked away from the program wishing we had more time!!!!!!! TECH CORPS your organization is AWESOME and the flexibility of the staff was very impressive!
TECH CORPS is a great non-profit with the goal of educating students about the computer science and technology field. I worked as a Techie Camp and HS Coding Camp instructor this summer and had a wonderful experience teaching kids about a growing field that they don't get much of an opportunity to learn about during the school year. If you have a student that is interested in learning about programming, robotics, video game production, or cyber security I would highly recommend their programs.
I went through a similar program in high school that gave me my own start in computer science; now that I'm a PhD-track researcher in the field, I decided to volunteer as an instructor. It was amazing watching these kids pick up so much of a command of programming in such a short time, and I feel like I really had an impact.
I had the pleasure of being one of the instructors for the Dekalb County areas in Georgia. It truly was a pleasant experience and one that brings useful contributions to the local area. Seeing kids get interested in expressing their creativity whilst learning skills and lessons that will help them in any endeavor they choose.
Kids learn, meet new friends, experience actual tools used in professional careers, and as an added bonus, seeing the parents and family of the kids come and see their child's work brings smiles and pride to their faces.
It is in my opinion that more organizations like Tech Corp's Techie Camp are needed, and I hope that it, and others like it, continue aiding and building bridges and stairs for the younger generations going forward.
In my short time as an instructor with tech corps I have nothing but nice things to say about all the people I've worked with. It really shows that this is more than a job for all of them and their hearts are truly invested in the futures of the young people we interact with.
As an instructor, I felt like I had plenty of guidance in how to help my students, but I also had enough freedom to teach in my own style. We definitely make a difference for these students, and the real-world lessons that they learned will be invaluable as they move forward.
They definitely help those that need the help. Also giving kids skills to use in there life and allow them to decide what they would like to do in life.
I was an instructor for Tech Corp's TechieCamp program last Summer, and their huge value as an organization should not be understated. After only a week of teaching my students to code, they began to grasp concepts in programming and Computer Science that most people are never even exposed to. Most importantly, the students truly enjoyed the camp, and all expressed an interest in continuing their computer science studies. I truly believe that these kids will excel in their endeavors thanks to the skills that Tech Corps has given them.
Tech Corps has been professional, responsive, and helpful in facilitating our Techie Club program for multiple years now. Volunteering is a pleasure because of how smoothly we're able to access programming and pick up/return equipment.
I've been involved with TECH CORPS for years; so, it was great to have my son participate in one of their programs.
Tech Corps is a great organization to work with, with a excellent idea well-executed. I think this is a very good way to get grade-schoolers interested in technology and further their education.
Plus, I had a great time. This is my second year, and both were rewarding and fun.
Thanks, Tech Corps, and, keep up the good work!
For the years that I have been involved I have watched the students light up with enthusiasm and excitement for STEM related lessons.
The volunteers and staff members all give many hours a week to building interesting and engaging activities for the kids with the dual goals of educating and building desire to continue with technical exploration.
Wonderful organization that offers opportunity to students and exposure to new innovations that they would not otherwise have. It is very well organized and offers students the ability to realize the technical capability and creative capability they have. The curriculum is flexible but also allows for the kind of structure you need to implement something with minimal prep work.
I had a wonderful opportunity to work with TECH CORPS this summer and it was the greatest way to spend my time. It prepared me for my (hopeful) future career and with my presentation skills. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in STEM careers
I am so glad I was given the opportunity to get involved with TECH CORPS this past summer. This past summer I was a site coordinator for one of the sites for the Student Web Corps Program and I’m currently an instructor for Techie Club. What I really enjoy about this program is their passion to give students and kids the opportunity to learn about the technology industry in a fun and hands on way! The best part about volunteering is seeing the students initially having little to no knowledge about technology and then seeing them by the end of the program wanting to learn more and even some wanting to pursue a career out of it! TECH CORPS is Fantastic!
This is my second year volunteering with Tech Core as a Site Coordinator for a Techie Club. The support we have received from Tech Corps is amazing! The Regional Director we work with, Carla Thompson, is always enthusiastic and quick respond to my many questions. The children in the club have benefitted from it so much - it is such a great opportunity for them to learn more about technology. The training and support the volunteers received is thorough. We are excited to be starting another year!
I have been a Techie Club volunteer for the past 2 years and it has been a wonderful experience. The Techie Club program brings hands-on experience to elementary school children. I've worked with 4th - 6th graders who would otherwise not have the opportunity to touch all these different areas of technology. We had them removing and reinstalling computer components, building working robot, creating their own movies and games and much more. I've met some wonderful people in Tech Corps who are excited and passionate about their work in this STEM effort. As an IT professional, this is needed, keep up the good work, you are making a difference!!
I work for a Cleveland-area software company, and I'm a volunteer in Tech Corps' Techie Club program. Tech Corps does an amazing job of supporting us and our efforts to teach and excite students about Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM) subjects through an after school enrichment program. They provide training, example lesson plans & curriculum, an online website and social community, and staff support that makes the volunteer experience easy and rewarding and that helps the kids and the school get the most out of the program. This is my second year with the program, and I'm still amazed at the passion & dedication of the Tech Corps staff and their willingness to receive feedback and improve the program. I would highly recommend this non-profit to any potential volunteer, parent, student, or teacher.
