I have participated as a volunteer for two Soldier'so Angel's teams and have found the nonprofit to be well organized and efficient. Coordinators are responsive and helpful, and my efforts seemed to make a significant difference to the soldiers.
I love volunteering for Soldiers' Angels. The soldiers always find time to write such a gracious Thank You note and this alone is enough for me to keep writing/sending. This organization provides you with the necessary tools to brighten that soldier's day/week!
I cannot express how grateful I am that this organization exits. I have been writing to soldiers since the Vietnam era and most of the letters went to male soldiers. This organization caught my attention with the teams dedicated to the female soldiers. I belong to Ladies of Liberty, Letter Writing Team and Birthday wishes. Writing to these women make me very humble and proud of what they are sacrificing daily. Also many of the women I have corresponded with have stayed in touch until they are stateside.
Love love love what this organization does! I also love that you can jump in and serve at various levels. Right now I don't have a ton of money so I do letter writing team but I have done care packages in the past. These men and women serve our country and are so not cared for like they should be. Soldiers' Angels also has a great website which makes it all so simple to see your people you're serving and working with as well as your own team. Highly recommend jumping in!
I have recently donated and started writing letters and sending care packages through this organization and I have to say that they are a wonderful group of women and that they are super organized and I LOVE working with them!
I have been a member of soldiers angels for several months. This organization provides civilians with the opportunity to directly connect with deployed soldiers, wounded soldiers, military families, caregivers to the wounded. We are able to support our service men and women in so many ways - the least they deserve. I was surprised by the rapid and enthusiastic response I received from the volunteers who are group leaders. They help guide you through every step. I handle the cost for shipping and mailing, etc. - reporting to the organization. I wanted to reach out and support the members of our military and their families and am so happy I found Soldiers Angels.
I am very proud to b a Soldier Angel. I will do anything to help the soldiers that are fighting for our c country. They deserve a HUGH Thank you for their service.
I have less than a full year with Soldier Angels but have thoroughly enjoyed every day of my time with this organization. The opportunity to send letters, packages, cards and well wishes to our soldiers who are fighting to keep our country free is quite fulfilling. We can't all do our part IN the military but we can all do our part FOR the military!
I signed up in November of last year because I was looking for a place to send cards to our Veterans and Soldier's for Christmas. I think this is a wonderful program and I really enjoy sending cards and Care packages to those who have and are currently serving. I feel as though it's a small thank you on my part for what they do and have done for us and our Country. I'm happy that I can do a little something to bring a smile to someone's face even if it's just a birthday card and being a Soldier's Angeles Volunteer allows me to do that!
This organization is exceptional in all ways. The response I have received from military soldiers is awesome. I have been a member for 9 years and love writing letters and sending birthday cards. I used to be able to send blankets and boxes but because of financial problems had to quit that part. But still love sending letter and cards and jokes. If I can make one soldier smile and laugh, I will have accomplished something.
I have been with Soldiers Angels for seven years and have been in awe of all that they do for our deployed soldiers. Well, the veterans, too. The deployed families, too. I keep thinking of all that they do, and have to keep adding on. I have sent thousands of letters and birthday cards and an occasional package. If I can make one soldier happy, I have done something right.
This is such a great organization! I have been a member since 2009 and I have been treated with the utmost respect and friendliness! My group leaders are the best! It is such a blessing to send packages and cards and letters to those serving. Nothing compares to a letter back and knowing that you can give someone a bright moment.
I joined SA when I was 20 years old... almost 15 years ago. I have really enjoyed all the nice people I have spoken with and corresponded with. I am teaching my daughter, who is now 9, that there is so much joy in giving to a stranger and so much character it builds to have respect for our military family. This is a proud legacy I am instilling in my daughter and I hope she continues it. This is such a great organization. I really like knowing that a simple letter could possible brighten up the day for someone overseas that may need the little boost it provides. Thank you SA for all your hard work and dedication to our troops!
I have been an Angel since 2008. It just warms my heart to send something, letters, packages and cards to the soldiers. They have put their lives on the line and it is the least I can do. What a wonderful organization to participate in. Thank you…...
This is a phenomenal organization that as a team functions with lots of love and organization to give directly to our soldiers , their families and their supports on the field. I am so proud to have this team to honor those who give so much for all of us.
I recently joined Soldiers' Angels and am on both the Bakers Team and the Letter-Writing Team. I have been impressed with the responsiveness of team leaders when I've had a question. They are truly on top of this group! I mentioned joining the group to a friend who had lost a son in Afghanistan. She immediately knew the organization and was excited that I had joined. This is a wonderful service to our military. Bravo Zulu everyone!
My only son was killed in an accident 9 years ago and I so desperately needed something to busy my mind. I found Soldiers Angels and began writing. It brought me great comfort and pleased the Soldiers as well. Now I have lots of sons. Thank you Soldiers Angels.
This is a great group. At present, I am only able to participate with writing letters to our men and women in the Armed Forces, but it makes me feel like I am giving something back for everything they are doing for us. I am really impressed with the level of participation and the different types of events and types of help this group gives on an ongoing basis.
I ran across this website quite by accident really. I was looking for charity work and when I came to soldiersangels.org I figured I could write some letters. I registered right before the holidays and was approved before everyone shutdown for Christmas. I've become a letter writing machine and I've adopts 2 soldiers on deployment. I love to shop for others and now I can. I even got my mom signed up on the site and she writes about 4 letters a day. We love what we do and we are so grateful for Soldiers' Angels for being there for our troops when most people are busy with their own crap in their own lives. I'm here got the long haul.
Thru this all encompassing support of all 6 branches of the service and their familes as well as prior honorablly discharged vets of prior eras, Soldiers' Angels raises morale, supplies oft needed personal items and hard copy support is proven to bring smiles and " gives me a spring in my step and head held high with a smile across my face, bc you have shared we are not forgotten , I carry your letter on me bc it takes me away if only for a moment to a normal place back home and reminds me of what we are fighting for." Also Plz send tolet paper and grooming products our ships run out before supplies arrive." Or " Plz send something to cover odors of ER in the field." I have personally received a book of everyday in A-Stan published drawing made with "Art supplies for my downtime, bc it helps me to relax, better than movies and such." . Also received an American flag, carried on an airplane into battle in gratitude for support given, by one of my adopted. Some get Skype, a email, but the hard copy and " mail call" is a big boost, " I have a smile bigger than my face and discipline myself to read only one a day so the feeling lasts, you will never know how much your organization has done so I can send my unit back out each day."... New moms to be are showered with cards so they feel supported while their spouse Id deployed and top knot team does a virtual shower. Women of valor supports caregivers of 9/11 thru our returning vets, giving them recognition and acknowledging their committment by being partnered with an angel to be honored on a 1:1 basis. Medics and Chaplains special needs have angel teams to suppor them. Homeless and vets in facilities are outreach support. It is an organization recognized as most effective in military support over the years. Pentagon approved. Supported by international volunteers. I have used this avenue since 9/11 to express my non partisan stance of military support.
As a member of this organization, I chose it because it was shortly after 9/11 and I needed a proactive, non-political outlet. Since that time, I have sent many weekly letters of support to the soldiers I have adopted, cards thru the card support team to touch a stranger in times of joy, grief, or congratulatory. So many have written that bc of Soldiers' Angels "I can go out and do what I do, knowing that we are not forgotten.". So many have said that with technology the skype or rare home call does not give the same lasting feeling of support as a hard copy and the morale boost when their name is called for mail call. "I had my head down but seeing my name on the mail call roster, lifted it...I can not tell you how much the letters mean to the troops here. We feel that people think the war is over and we are all home.". One said she disciplined her letters to "opening only one a day to keep the joy lasting as long as the letters were opened." The organization has expanded thru the years to now include family, Veterans, Caregivers (Women of Valor) that are committed to 24/7 care of 9/11 survivors or military related long term health issues. Fischer House is also supported thru their needs Going beyond the Letter writing with quilting, baking, crafting utilizing so many talents has made this a broad spectrum of a rainbow for those of WW2 thru todays active duty and retired. With the suicide at 20 a day, I only wish the needs of all who need a stranger to say "You are not forgotten" You are our Nation's treausred". .It is with great pride that I say I am a Soldiers Angel.
I like that SA has something for everything as a volunteer. Plus the main office is located in San Antonio - heart of AF country - Hoorah! For me, I am able to reconnect through letters. In my years since discharge talking to older vets particularly Vietnam & Korea, those letters mean a lot and last longer than email so I always include an article, joke or sports article that I think someone will like. If my guy doesn't then someone in the unit will.
