Solar San Antonio is a major part of the Solar Energy Industry in Texas and has made a major impact on many lives, both professionally and personally. Solar San Antonio's main mission is to advocate for solar energy and other renewable and smart building practices to help our local economy, society, and environment. Bill Sinkin started this with a macro plan for what we can be in San Antonio and what renewables and solar can do for our society. Lanny Sinkin, now Executive Director, and his team have taken San Antonio from a town with a few systems and no awareness of this technology, to one of the major solar energy hubs in the USA with many megawatts of commercial projects, residential projects, and utility scale projects making San Antonio the #1 Solar Americas City in the country and a new leader for sustainable living. The employees work very hard to educate the public and promote these ideas, while working with local politicians, advocates, and solar energy industry employees who rely on leaders like Bill and Lanny to be the voice for the few, to help educate the many. Solar San Antonio has helped drive millions of dollars of economic activity for San Antonio helping our state get on the map for solar energy. Big Kudos to Bill & Lanny Sinkin and the team and vision they have developed for our city for decades to come!

Solar San Antonio(SSA) provides an environment where community and industry leaders can come together to facilitate the spreading of solar technology to the people of San Antonio, Texas. This organization cuts across different cultural and social lines easily to do this. SSA combines grass roots passion and efforts with a growing political presence. SSA hosts several social functions/ fairs to educate the public as to the many benefits of clean renawable energy. Those individuals who wish to go solar are made aware of the solar vendors in town . SSA has been intrumental in falciltating dialog between the developing solar community, individuals contimplating solar power, and CPS - the largest city owned power company. The staff of SSA work long hours fired mostly by a passion. As a boardmember, I enjoy being a small part of this process. The results of SSA's efforts are readily visible as the number of and size of solar installations grows rapidly.
