The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs is an organization that is extraordinarily honest, smart, well run, and overwhelmingly caring and loving. They care for the dogs physical, mental, and emotional well being in their careful placements from fosters to forever homes. I have had the privilege to work with them in positively training their dogs. The mere fact that they do train speaks volumes. And the love I have seen is incredible! The other thing I love about Sanctuary for Senior Dogs is they show the same respect and care for people!! Truly unique, truly worthwhile. We need more rescues like them.

I worked at the Animal Hospital were the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs would vet their dogs. A wonderful bunch of people that give their time to save these older dogs and care for them until they get a permanent home. They show so much love for the animals. If anyone is interested in giving a older dog a home, The Sanctuary is the place to adopt.

The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs is an amazing rescue that shows compassion to animals that many would overlook. They focus on healing injured/sick dogs and provide force free training to those dogs who need it. They are a rescue that other rescues should emulate.

We are delighted to have Mister & Chica in our family. Mister & Chica are a bonded pair of 12 year old Chihuahuas that came to us in April of '17. The wonderful thing about The Santuary for Senior Dogs is they ensured the dogs were vetted, trained and ready to be adopted. There was no house breaking required. They understand what their crates are for. The prep work Sanctuary did with them made them wonderful to have right from the start. Because of our great experience, we will always adopt from the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs. Chica is below (don't have a good pic of Mister!). #SeniorDogsRock

I don't have a photo to share, but I want everyone to know what an incredible organization this is. Deborah Workman and her volunteers work tirelessly to make sure all senior dogs have a warm, loving home.

The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs is such a wonderful rescue group in our community. They take excellent care of their animals & do a great job pairing animals with great people through their fostering & adoption programs. I personally know someone who has fostered & adopted through them and to see senior dogs, many in declining health, receive such thoughtfulness & care is wonderful. The senior dog community is one that is often ignored or swept under the rug & the Sanctuary serves as an outstanding advocate & ambassador for the senior dog population.

The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs is a blessing to old dogs! The organization takes those that are elderly and sick and provides medical, a loving place for them to live and enjoy their time! I think they are doing amazing things for those that (sadly) are forgotten and have no where to go. Bless their hearts!

I am someone who was always blessed to have dogs in my life. It breaks my heart I no longer have that blessing-because now I am a senior. All the love senior dogs have to give, all the joy-I am so very glad the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs is there for all they help. My only regret-that I can not give one or more of those seniors a home.

This organization is such a blessing for the senior dogs who would otherwise die alone & terrified, in a shelter surrounded by strangers. Here they are surrounded by love of families for the remainder of their life, a valued & treasured family member

You don't have to teach an old dog new tricks! Senior dogs are mature, people-smart and may be the best fit for you. At the Cleveland OH Sanctuary for Senior Dogs, special programs match people with older dogs for mutual benefit. In the meantime, the dogs reside in foster homes with sponsors who love them until they can enter permanent family life.

These grown-up dogs are kind and intuitive, the perfect people-friends without the intensive training pups require for socialization. This makes them super companions for senior humans!

All of the sanctuary's mature dogs are spayed, neutered, evaluated for adoptable temperament and given medical care.
Come and spend time with a senior dog on Adoption Sundays, the last Sunday in every month.
You'll love it!

I have followed Sanctuary for Senior Dogs online for some time now. I have only attended one adoption event. These dogs are clean, well cared for, and loved. I have also participated in helping dogs that were not officially a Sanctuary dog, but Sanctuary highlighted when there was a need. Keep up the good work!

This is a wonderful group of people that foster and help find homes for our senior canine friends. I don't live in the CLE area any longer but they have inspired me and I recently added a senior chihuahua to my brood.

This rescue is dedicated , caring and a wonderful group to work with. I often see the director of the rescue at my vet's office, making sure her charges are well taken care of. The network of volunteers is efficient and knowledgeable. Their summer event is extremely well run and organized , and I take my older dog every year. I highly recommend them!

I have learned about the wonderful work this rescue does through my volunteer work at the Cleveland City Kennel. We often have senior dogs brought in that suffer from a multitude of medical issues and have been abandoned by their owners. The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs always steps up for these babies and provides them loving care in their last days. The kennel recently had a senior coon hound come in that was emaciated and terminally ill. It was so wonderful that he spent his last days surrounded by love and compassion at the Sanctuary.

This group does an amazing job caring for dogs that no one else wants. Senior dogs that are abandoned by those who no longer want the responsibility that an older dog requires. Their loving ,caring attitude shines through with every photo and story.

I gave the upmost respect for all animal organizations that help animals in need . Sanctuary for Senior Dogs is amazing. They help senior dogs live out their final years knowing they are loved. They help these animals with all the essentials they need to survive and thrive until they find their forever homes and if an animal is unable to be adopted they provide a forever home. God Bless.

A great organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless senior dogs. These dogs are almost always overlooked at the shelter because of their age and possible medical issues. The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs pulls these animals from despair and provides them with warmth, comfort and medical care. They try to place the animals with a foster or forever foster and if unable to be placed they provide for them until it is their time to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Truly a great group of dedicated people advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves!

Although I have no personal experience with the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs, I have followed them on social media for several years, share their postings, and many of their stories of adoptions, and their forever residents. As the former "mom" to a rescued Senior Black Lab, Bandit went to the Rainbow Bridge last year, I know the value of our senior pets. Bandit was unwanted, overweight, and abused when we rescued and adopted him. He had every right to shut down, be unsociable, and hold an attitude towards people. But that wasn't our Bandit. He went through therapy dog training with me, and we became a therapy dog team volunteering with seniors, veterans and children in reading programs. Bandit co-authored a published book with me, and despite the hardships he suffered, he was truly a wonderdog. This is what The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs recognizes in older, unwanted dogs. The Sanctuary allows them to live their lives in dignity, with care, and those who can be adopted, finds them forever homes. and promotes the benefits of seniors. Their donations are used for healthcare, providing food and comfort, and a clean, safe environment, as well as all the other costs incurred with rescues and adoption. They are located near my old hometown, and I would surely volunteer there, if I lived nearby. Instead I'm two thousand miles away. But I have so many friends and family in their area, that I share their story and adoption and rescue dogs on my social media. As I grow older, I will always love a puppy or young dog, but what I really want is the comfort of a senior dog who is content with a nice walk, staying warm and cared for at my side. Here is a photo of our treasured senior, Bandit!
