I have seen indigent patients as a volunteer physician for the San Diego County Medical Society's Project Access. This charity is very well organized and effective at making sure patients receiving free care through their volunteer physicians and hospitals are truly in need and have no other resources. The patients I've treated are extremely appreciative and Project Access is indispensable in setting up the ancillary services patients need but cannot afford. This is a most rewarding endeavor, for the patients as well as the volunteers!

Our Surgeon volunteers her time to perform surgeries for Project Access Patients. It is extremely easy for our office staff to set up the Patient's consultation and surgery with the help from the Project Access staff. The Patients are always prepared and on time when they come to our office. It has been a pleasure to provide a much needed service to the Patients of Project Access. We enjoy volunteering to help people in our community and Project Access does an amazing job facilitating our volunteer services. Project Access is an asset to the people of San Diego.

Project Access is an amazing organization. They make it very easy for our doctors at ENT Associates of San Diego to volunteer and help the people in our community that dont have access to medical care.
We are proud to be part of such an organization

My job as a volunteer was a traslator, it's is so important than patients can understand their Doctor 's instructions of how to take care of themselfs after surgery, how to contact their Doctors in case of complications and follow up appoinments and or treatments.
I feel so good that I was able to help and be part of that important task.

I am an ENT specialist. I welcome the opportunity to give back to the community by volunteering for Project Access San Diego through the San Diego County Medical Society Foundation. Project Access arranges for free transportation and translation services and provides me with the necessary medical information for the patient.

I feel truly honored to care for my patients through Project Access. Because these women have significant medical problems, they are sincerely grateful for the medical care and treatment. I am impressed with the workup that has been done before they see me, the records that are sent, and the translator they bring with them to help the process. Project Access makes it simple to order labs, send specimens to pathology, and arrange for hospital coverage of care. I am so grateful for the kind notes of gratitude from these special patients. I have been looking for a way to give such care for years, and Project Access has made it happen.
Thank you.

As a member of a dermatology group that sees Project Access patients I feel privileged to be able to help those in the community who are having skin problems that require specialized care but who do not have the resources to see a dermatologist on their own.
The patients we have seen have had challenging problems that we fortunately were able to resolve, greatly enhancing their quality of life and giving us volunteer dermatologists great professional satisfaction. Thanks to Project Access San Diego for developing this program. One of the specific examples was a woman who had a widespread rash that proved to be a contact dermatitis, cured when the offending substance was discovered and eliminated from her life.

As an Orthopedic Surgeon, providing care for patients with pain or deformity in the musculo-skeletal system often requires more than an office visit. It requires a trip to the operating room and assurance of post-op visits. The value of the Project Access supported by SDCMS is their ability to pull together partners from the community (OR rooms, all the nursing and anesthesia staff) to make it happen. A great resource for those in our community who have fallen through the cracks.

The gratification I receive from treating needy patients through San Diego County Medical Society Foundation's Project Access is unparalleled. The appreciation patients with awfully crippling arthritis show is worth far more than any copayment or insurance reimbursement can provide. The program facilitates the scheduling, visit and follow up in the comfort of our own office, lessening the burden of time required to see these patients in other settings. This program reminds me of the basic reasons I chose medicine as a career.

It is wonderful that my patient who loses insurance no longer has to go to a clinic and leave our Family Practice in order to access specialty care. Project Access makes it possible for me to continue caring for them and have coordinated referrals made to doctors, surgery centers and ancillary care willing to provide free care for those who need it. I am very grateful.

I love helping those who would not otherwise have access to rheumatology specialty care. Project Access San Diego through the Medical Society Foundation provides me the pertinent medical records, laboratory and imaging information, transportation and translation services so I can examine the patient in my office and return them with my treatment plan to their PCP. And I know they will get the needed medications for my treatment plan. It's much easier for me to see uninsured patients in my own office than to travel to volunteer my services. Thank you PASD for this wonderful opportunity to serve my community.

San Diego County Medical Society Foundation's Project Access provides much needed volunteer medical care to the uninsured and uninsurable people in San Diego. With out this type of volunteerism by surgeons, radiologists and medical specialists diseases could progress to life threatening illnesses.
I am proud to be a surgical volunteer for Project Access. Patients come fully vetted and with complete records. When needed they are accompanied by a translator. The service is very well run and very easy for my office staff to interface with. Its service leaves us all feeling good about what we do.

As a surgically oriented dermatologist I have been providing services to needy individuals without health insurance through "project access," a terrific program set up by our San Diego County Medical Society Foundation. The patients we helped had problems that were treatable with relatively simple surgical procedures that could be done in my office surgical suites. It gave me a great deal of satisfaction to be able to be of service to these patients and I'm grateful to the foundation for setting up such a valuable program. It allows San Diego physicians to express by their actions the principles which motivated many of us to become physicians in the first place.

The Foundation has made it easy for me to volunteer my services as a radiologist. The recently implemented eConsult site allows me to conveniently and securely make recommendations to clinicians about the appropriate imaging of their patients. It would be difficult for me to volunteer in my specialty without this program. I highly recommend Project Access to San Diego physicians who want to help take care of our neediest citizens.
