I've served on Project Safe's Domestic Violence Task Force since 2006. At present, I serve on the Fatality Review sub-committee. I also volunteer to provide meals for various functions sponsored by Project Safe and have also helped with manpower needed for an annual show.
It is very rewarding to give back to an agency that helps so many needy families.
I recently became a volunteer, my first volunteer duty was great! Project Safe has come a long way since their former days. They have a wonderful system set up to meet the needs of those who really need it. I will continue to support and volunteer my time for such a worthy cause.
I love volunteering with project safe thrift shop in athens, ga. It is an awesome feeling knowing that such a large percentage of each solar goes back to help the battered women in our community leave dangerous relationships and become safe with their children! Makes my heart warm!
I volunteer at the Project Safe Thrift Store, which provides items for clients and raises funds for the work done by Project Safe. They are always organized and ready for volunteers to help. It is very satisfying to help with an organization that does such improtant work that is needed in our community.
I am part of a church that volunteers with Project Safe in a couple of ways. We work at their Thrift Store quarterly and do whatever they need us to do. They are always so organized--with a list of things that need to be done. We feel our time spent is both worthwhile and enjoyable.
We also take a monthly meal for their client meeting. They help us know what the needs are and are always so appreciative--which makes a volunteer feel good!
Project Safe does such important work in the Athens area, and it is a pleasure to help a group that does their work so well. We always know that they use their resources wisely, and make a difference in the lives of those they serve.

I have volunteered with Project Safe for several years and have done all levels of involvement, from assisting a client in need with moving out of an unsafe environment to dressing nicely at one of the annual fund raisers.
Everyone I've ever dealt with at Project Safe has been professional, dedicated, and passionate about the work being done. This is so important when you are working with clients who are often at the lowest point emotionally in their lives. Few people seek out Project Safe because things are going well. People seek out services because something has gone terribly wrong. The Project Safe staff and volunteers meet clients where they are and work tirelessly to ensure immediate safety and long term education.
Joan Prittie runs a tight ship and I hope to offer my volunteer services to Project Safe for a long time to come.
I volunteered with Project Safe over the summer as a Direct Service Intern. Through my time with them, I got the opportunity to work directly with survivors of domestic violence. Project Safe was able to help their clients feel secure, assist them in their healing process, and provide for their needs. This experience also opened my eyes to different ways to help not only our clients at Project Safe, but also with other individuals and organizations in the community to bring awareness to this issue.
As an intern at Project Safe Inc. I get to see the face of DV up close and personal. I see the bruises, the scars, the emotional damage, and more. But what I also get to see is strength, bravery, and hope for a better future. I see incredible women who inspire me every day. It's a really awesome experience to work with Project Safe and be there to support in their fight.
As a former Mayor of Athens, my work with Project Safe Thrift Shop has revealed some of the most resourceful and industrious people I have ever met. Grandmothers and mothers preparing for new children. Parents seeking status brands for picky teenagers and students supplementing Hope scholarships. Loved ones determined to find better gifts. Amateur entrepreneurs gathering goods for yard sales. Not a business, the Project Safe Thrift Shop operates as a service. Donations find their way to a future of appreciation and life enhancement. With every hour I feel joy in helping.
I have been volunteering with them over a year, and I being able to see the dedication of everyone there towards those who need them.
I love volunteering for project safe. I really admire the strength of this organization, the way we really support the women and children that need our services. I have always felt welcomed and encouraged to help when needed. This organization is very valuable to the surrounding communities because sometimes getting out of an abusive relationship is life or death, but project safe not only offers life but the necessary tools to cope. I'm truly proud to represent this organization.
I love the work that they do at Project Safe and I feel useful being able to help in a small way to support their cause
Great place to use my organization skills. Staff is friendly and grateful for my help.
Review from Guidestar
I was lucky to have the chance to intern with Project Safe Inc. this past spring. I learned so much about how a successful non-profit operates, and so much more. The devoted staff worked around the clock, 7 days a week, to provide help to victims of domestic violence in the Athens community. They are a wonderful group of people and I was very proud to be a small part of such an amazing organization. Project Safe raised $150,000 this year at their Dancing With the Athens Stars spring fundraising event- and all-time high! I look forward to seeing Project Safe's continued success in the future.
Project Safe is committed to helping women and children leave abusive situations and better their lives.
I found out about Project Safe when David Hale was donating the proceeds of one of his tattoos to them. Not sure exactly what they did, I looked into their services, and found out just how much they do for the community here. I decided to volunteer, and it has been one of the most rewarding, empowering, and humbling experiences of my life.
It's rewarding to be able to directly help those in need and to see how much good this organization does not only in the lives of those it directly helps, but also to the community as it advocates for awareness and policy changes to eliminate domestic violence in the future.
It's empowering to see people who are capable of overcoming anything, rising from situations of extreme abuse to become confident, independent, and successful individuals. It inspires you to think about all that you can accomplish if you put your mind to it.
And finally, this has been such a humbling experience. So often, we can lose sight of the many gifts we have, whether that's money, education, resources, loving family, or supportive friends. Working with people who truly appreciate life's gifts reminds us all to look at what we have in our own lives.
Reminds us to share it, make the most of it, and to give back with our time and our money to organizations like Project Safe that work to make the lives of everyone in the community a little bit better, a little bit more loving, and a little bit safer.
Project Safe provides an invaluable service to our community. They help give a voice to the victims that otherwise might have nowhere to turn. They offer amazing support groups both to the victims and their children. I feel honored to volunteer for such a group.
Project Safe has exceeded my expectations of what I thought I would get out of an internship. I entered not knowing how I would be working with other interns and staff. Now working with the other members of the Project Safe Team is one of the highlights on my job. The staff I work with are all willing to answer questions and problem-solve with you. I will surely miss all the great people I've met and been mentored from whenever I have to leave.
Interning with Project Safe has had a profound impact on my life because I can take pride in knowing that I work with such a powerful organization that always does everything they can to help someone who is experiencing domestic violence. I have personally witnessed Project Safe go above and beyond when it comes to helping their clients, and I am confident that the Project Safe employees will always do everything in their power to help someone who is in need of their services. I am so proud and inspired everyday to work for such a dedicated and honest organization.
Project Safe in Athens is a truly amazing organization. As an intern here, I've had the chance to see the ins and outs of this organization and how each and every situation is handled with grace, care, and love. Not only that, but the staff is caring, considerate, and is composed of some of the most incredible people I have ever met. Project Safe's unwavering support of victims of domestic violence is the perfect example of how a nonprofit should function. Keep up the good work!
I did community service at the Project Safe thrift store, and it was a good place to do work. The people there were generally focused and kind and seemed to really care about their work and the people they were helping.
