I've gone to Hospital Bernard Mevs three times with Project Medishare. I'm planning to go again soon. It's really encouraging to see the changes and the strides that have been made at the hospital. Volunteers like myself, were initially told to work along side the Haitian staff and teach when needed. It wasn't long before they taught me more than vice versa. The staff has a lot of compassion for their patients. Because of their circumstances, they must be very creative with the medical equipment and materials they have. Project Medishare has been coming to Haiti since long before the earthquake. Their passion is helping the Haitian people to live a healthier life.
I feel blessed to still be able to participate in their mission. Most volunteers say one thing in common: that the experience has changed their lives forever.
