Mission: Theatrical performances and educational programming based on the company's mission statement
Programs: During the 2009 season, the pigeon creek shakespeare company produced 5 plays: king lear, julius caesar, the comedy of errors, the winter's tale, and pericles. Each of these plays performed at 3-5 venues, for a total of 12-15 individual performances of each play. These productions exposed 2100 audience members in michigan and surrounding states to professional quality productions of shakespeare's plays. All expenditures listed on form 990-ez for the 2008 season were associated with these play productions and performances. The company also undertook educational programming during the 2008 season. On multiple occasions, company actors provided guest lectures and performance free of charge in english courses at grand valley state university. The company provided educational programming at the west michigan academy of arts and academics in spring lake, michigan, visiting the school's theatre classes and performing at their festival of the arts. The company also provided monthly community outreach performances at barnes and noble stores in the west michigan area. The company provides these educational and community outreach programs free of charge, and did not incur expenses for these programs because actors participate in them on a volunteer basis. Educational and community outreach programs benefited approximately 500 students from pre-school through college age.
