Hard to believe that is has been a year since I responded to a post in a neighborhood newsletter requesting volunteers for The Pet Project for Pets. As I had just retired from working full time for many years and as both of my parents volunteered their time after retirement, I too wanted to give back to the community. I did not know much about this wonderful charity, but did not take long to witness first hand the help Pet Project provides to individuals, their pets and so many rescues. During my many working hours, so many call or come in asking for assistance because, for various reasons, can no longer afford to feed their dog or cat. I have worked when someone will come in with an injured animal who cannot afford the vet bill or not even sure where to go. Sue Martino and her relationship with local veterinarians will provide such needed services. I have come to work where kittens have been left at the front door and Sue was able to get them placed with a foster that day. I could go on but want to mention the incredible work Sue Martino does for this charity. She does not say no and has helped so many.
I have been involved with The Pet Project as a Rescue, and now a volunteer. I see first hand how the Pet Project helps people in the community care for, thus keep their beloved pets when otherwise could not afford to do so. The Pet Project also assists and helps Dog Rescue organizations with Dog and cat food , litter, etc which helps tremendously, enabling rescue groups to rescue more dogs, as a result. I was so impressed by this organization, the people who are part of it, their compassion and sincerity in helping, that I recently began to volunteer for them. What a great, caring group of people! I’m happy I did, and will continue to do so and play a small part in this wonderful organization!
I have been involved with the Pet Project for over 5 years as a volunteer and social media marketer. What the pet project does for pets is amazing, they save them by keeping them in their homes with their families. In addition the pets save the people as well.
The Pet Project enables individuals who are disabled, ill or aging (seniors) to provide for their pets. They give pet food, pet supplies (litter), pet vaccines and reduced cost vet care so that the pets stay with their loved ones and their loved ones are not forced to choose between eating a meal or giving it to their pet. The Pet Project is saving over 1100 pets and with more funding can do much more. It is my hope that this review brings more donors and supporters for the Pet Project.
I was first introduce to Pet Project for Pets because of the food they donated to a rescue that I volunteered at full time. I would be the one picking up the food donated by the rescue bank and I really got to see the effort that Pet Project, Sue Martino and the volunteers put out for the community. I decided that I wanted to be part of that effort and I also wanted to give back to Pet Project because of what they provided for my rescue. Well, its been a year and my 8 hour weekly obligation has grown but so have my friendships. Pet Projects has taken in animals found on their doorstep and found them homes, helped the homeless with feeding their animals and provided for vetting of very sick animals when the owners had no or little money to do so, provided foster care when an individual had to be hospitalized and had no one to turn to, found homes for animals when their owner passed and no one else cared. The list goes on and on!!! I can tell you that without Pet Project many of us would not be able to save and keep safe the animals we care for and about. I've been lucky enough to see the smiles on clients faces when they come to pick up their food and share their stories about their beloved pets. I'm a better person for volunteering there. I've included a couple of pics of kitties that Pet Project for Pets saved in the last month.
I have been a volunteer for almost 1 year... I LOVE what the Pet Project organization is doing...As a volunteer I go out on delivery.. each month and I have taken bags and bags, of Pet food, cat litter and many treats..to our pets home....due to our clients illness..
I have seen and spoken with many of our clients and hearing from the clients
because of the Pet Project they are able to keep their pets at home with them...and not in a shelter... lots of appreciation in each of the clients eyes and their pets..
Pet Project for Pet is a wonderful organization, and as a volunteer I will continued my volunteer service for the LOVE of the Pets and Pet owner...
I have always been an Animal Advocate - a year after retiring I began considering options of activities to keep me occupied. I explored several possibilities - The Pet Project for Pets caught my attention - did my research and decided to give it a try. The Pet Project has afforded me not only the opportunity to help animals in need but to help their human counterparts who for various reasons are in vital need of assistance - both financially and physically. Making monthly deliveries of pet food to those who are home bound ,or without transportation or unable to afford to purchase food and supplies - who without The Pet Project would not be able to keep their pets at home as a vital part of their family.
Helping to keep People in need together with their pets gives me a great sense
of accomplishment - as well as making me thankful for being independent & able to help those less fortunate.
They never turn anyone away that has a need and are 100% dedicated to all animals in need. They definitely walk the walk...
I found the Pet Project by chance and it has given me another way to help more animals. I foster and do other volunteer work to rehabilitate animals and find them homes.
This great non-profit does what no one else does, they help people keep their pets when faced with difficult circumstances. Keeping families together prevents the trauma to the pet, the grief of having to give your dog to a shelter/rescue and is less expensive for taxpayers.
The thrift store, Hidden Treasures, is an undiscovered gem in Fort Lauderdale.
Find a treasure and help animals!
The Pet projects is a great organization . I went in the hospital for heat surgery the pet projects fostered my dog at no charge. It was a relief to know that my pet companion was well cared for while I was incapacitated. if not for the pet projects the cost would have been very expensive might not have been able to afford it since I am disabled am very grateful to the Pet projects for their invaluable assistance in my time of need. besides they offer monthly food bank services every month and canine and feline vaccines. Thanks Pet projects
I volunteer with Pet Project and have been a volunteer with many other animal groups in the past. I would rate Pet Project as one of the best. They address a unique concern in the community - helping people in financial crises (mostly due to medical conditions) feed and care for their pets. Without Pet Project, these animals would add to the overwhelming shelter population. The only funding is through donations and a rare grant or two. I would love to see this organization gain more recognition in the community, so that it can continue to grow to meet the ever increasing demand they are facing.
Without the support of the Pet Project many terminally ill or disabled people would not be able to care for their pets. This organization helps both animals and people.
What a unique & innovative approach to rescue. When chronic/terminal illness strikes, The Pet Project for Pets intervenes BEFORE the crisis keeping beloved animals at home with the humans that cherish & need them. Presently, more than 1050 animal & their pet people have been spared the heartbreak of separation and in so doing, helps lessens the burden on over crowded shelters. The Pet Project supplements pet food & pet care costs. A smart solution to a deeply disturbing situation.
I am one of the Volunteers who delivers pet food to the Ill. disabled, and financial strap once a month. Since I started almost a year ago I have made some nice new friend /people. They appreciate the food and the Pets do too.
The Hidden Treasures thrift shop supporting "Pet Project for Pets "has great finds and the other volunteer are very nice people and assist the shopper in finding the deals
The Other events like doggie pool parties and dog wash are fun and well attended
I have been volunteering with Pet Project for about a year now helping with publicity outreach. I have worked with numerous non profit organizations and Pet Project has the most heart of any of them. I have never seen so many people so dedicated to their cause. It is such an important organization that helps so many people and I am very proud to be a part of it.
I was introduced to The Pet Project for Pets through St. Francis Church...a parishioner was looking for a temporary foster home for his cat because he had to go into the hospital. The Pet Project found a temporary home, unfortunately this person did not come out of the hospital and Pet Project found a new home for the cat. This cat was kept out of the shelter system and possible euthanasia. They also provided vaccinations free of charge so this cat would remain healthy in her new home.
I worked in the shelter system locally for years and am very aware of how many animals are put to sleep on a daily basis. It is truly heart shredding.. In many cases there are no other alternatives except to surrender.
I can't imagine having to give up a "family member " . It is a proven statistic that our pets keep us healthy and to not have my pet when I returned home is unimaginable.
The Pet Project for Pets fills a badly needed void in the system that has for the most part been totally ignored. They provide food, vet care and temporary foster care .
I now volunteer...I have been fostering a male cat named Charlie for 3 months after his owner was violently broken into and his apartment destroyed...he himself is living in a shelter trying to get back on his feet...he will get his precious pet back when ready.
The Pet Project for Pets fills a need for our community that no one else does.
i helped with a bake sale to help raise money to help buy medicine and food for the pets. In this bake sale i heard lots of people say to me how great the pet project for pets has helped them keep there animals.
The pet project for pet provides a wonderful and much needed service to the community. By providing pet food & supplies to people who are medially or financially challenged they enabled them to keep their pets thus keeping animals out of shelters and their home.
I found out about Pet Project for Pets at a parking lot sale. After a short time of checking it out I found it to be an excellent charity. They're helping a lot of people who if we didn't help would lose their animal(s). That's the main reason I volunteer. I was in a situation a short time ago where I had to figure out how to keep my dog. I wish I had known about an organization like this then.
Tell your story here and help others understand this charity I spend one day a week giving my time and helping out at the Pet Project Thrift Store, and I'm also involved with their community outreach projects. This is a great cause and i have supported this organization for years, both personally and through the business I work for. I hope they continue to support those in need and to grow larger in the years to come.
I first heard about this wonderful organization from a volunteer. She shared that someone she knew was beaten serverly and was unabe to care for his pet. The Pet Project for Pets took the man's dog in, cared for it and placed it in a forever home. The original owner had no hope of recovery and eventually pased away. I attended a number of fundraisers and found the groups organizer's to be wonderful, kind, caring people providing loving care to pets, when the owner was unable to care for them. I am so glad this organiztion exists, as I could easily find myself in need of their services, as a single person. When I heard they have a thrift shop, I cleaned my closets out and donated a huge amount of goods. They came out and collected everything, even though I offered to deliver it myself. I am wiling to do anything in my power to support the Pet Project for Pets.
