Partners in Torah has brought many thousands of Jewish people closer to their roots and the traditions of their forefathers through fostering mentoring partnerships. Many friendships have also resulted from this learning.
A number of years ago, I responded to an impassioned plea by the founder of this wonderful organizaion to get involved in being a mentor to another Jew who has expressed an interest in learning more about his heritage. Getting involved in this way has fostered a bond of friendship and has enabled a connection of spiritual growth for my partner and I; I can't imagine how this could happen without having Partners In Torah as the forum which facilitated this connection. I have been learning with my current partner in Torah for many years now. So much good has come out of our relationship; I have tried to help him thru many issues in his spiritual progression; he has enriched my life with his sincerity and goodness. This organization beams with "success stories"; it is truly a win-win organization for all those involved.
As a "teacher" in a Partner's-in-Torah partnership for quite a bit already, I can't begin to express my admiration for this wonderful organization. Each week, I continue to learn so much from my partner and am truly grateful for this wonderful opportunity. Thank you Partner's in Torah for all your wonderful work!!
I was extremely pleased and impressed with the precision, efficiency, and care of the Partners in Torah Organization and is employees. I have always wanted to be involved with teaching, and the expert matching of the Partners in Torah system/database paired me up with a student. We genuinely get along--we are matched on a common intellectual level and personality. Studying with my Torah partner has been a genuinely enjoyable experience. I appreciated the follow up, attention and guidance that I received from the Partners in Torah employees.
I have two partners with whom I study. One is a college student with whom I study mishna on campus at the Hillel House. The other, is a retired senior who lives in Montreal, Canada who was a refusnik in the fromer Soviet Union. We study mishna via telephone. Thanks to Partners in Torah we have each grown and profited greatly from our respective relationships. The program is simple yet powerful- to pair up individuals to study Torah throughout the globe. Why should distance be an impediment to the study of Torah?! I am very greatful to them for these opportunities and hope & pray that, with G-D's help, they continue seeing success in all their projects.
I Have been a teacher for Partners in Torah for quite a few years and it has been of great benefit to me. My partner is severely disabled and his dedication to our learning has been a great inspiriation to me, The organization's literature has helped me a great deal in understanding not only how to relate to my partner but also to the world at large. I highly recommend this organization to all who have any interest in Judaism and/or Torah. Eliyahu Ellman
I wasn't set up yet to learn with any one because there are a lot of volunteers in my age group. Can't wait until I get a phone call!
As a volunteer mentor, I have experienced the tremendous ambition of this organization. They are completely devoted to the success of their participants. Whenever I began a new study relationship, I have received regular follow-up phone calls to inquire as to how it's going and to give me feedback from my study partner. The help and guidance they've provided have been instrumental in my continued involvement and commitment to the organization.
My torah partner is amazing. His knowledge and insight into the torah is eye opening. He inspires me to want to learn more, the time we spend on the phone goes so fast, I wish I could learn more with him. He has introduced me to so many aspects of Jewish learning and rabinic sources. I felt uncomfortable at times that I didn't know something, but my torah partner didn't make me feel bad, in fact, he inspired me to want to learn, and said I could ask him any questions and he would be glad to answer. I have been blessed with a great partner. Thank you for your organization.
I have found the experience of sharing with others, amazing. To be able to enlighten others and assist them fulfill their quest and quench their thirst, extremely fulfilling. I have a partner with whom I communicate on a weekly basis. We at Partners in Torah are fulfilling the responsibility of a nation, reaching out to those who wish, and educating them about their heritage. It makes me proud to be able to say that I volunteer for Partners in Torah.
I especially look foward to your weekly Parsha Letter. They are informative, educational, interesting and always well written. Thank You!
I have been a Partner in Torah for close to 4 years, and have only had wonderful experiences with the entire Partners in Torah organization. I count my partner Lisa as one of my closest friends, and together we have explored a variety of various Jewish concepts. The staff at Partners in Torah is always helpful, periodically checking up on our relationship, and always there to answer any questions we might have. I consider it an honor to be a part of such a wonderful organization.
THIS is a great non-profit. I wrote to them & asked about volunteering. The followed up. they called, they wrote. They showed they cared. They are serious about what they do. I was very impressed.
Partners in Torah set me up with a learning partner across the country. Despite difficulty scheduling learning sessions with a 3 hour time difference, both I and my partner stuck with it. After only a few weeks, I found myself caring about someone 3,000 miles away that I had never met. Less than a year after we started learning, when I was hit by a car, I could hear similar concern mirrored in his voice. Our conversations deepened, and we shared not just Torah thoughts but life experiences, and I finally met him in person at my wedding. All of this came from a few phone calls by volunteers, who themselves have never met my partner or myself. In addition, they regularly follow up on our progress, making sure that we are indeed production as a pair and making themselves available to address any issues that may come up. Partners in Torah is a very impactful organization helping Jews reconnect and deepen their connection with their rich heritage and fellow Jews.
I have been a mentor for Partners in Torah for many years. I derive much satisfaction and challenge from it, and I urge anyone capable of mentoring under this program to do so, and anyone who has a desire to increase his/her Jewish knowledge to take advantage.
For the past few years I had wanted to join Partners in Torah. Although my background is frum, I was worried about getting asked difficult Hashkofa, halacha or Hashem questions that I would have difficulty answering. This summer I finally took the plunge and called Partners in Torah. They reassured me that I was not alone, and I felt that I would always have support behind me no matter to whom I was matched up to. A few months later, I got assigned an excellent match, lovely lady, very close to my age (in the 50's) and we're studying together once a week. Than you Partners in Torah!
I learned a tremendous amount volunteering for Partners in Torah -- I realized there were so many things I had always taken for granted that I couldn't even explain well. That meant I had my own homework to do. I also found that there was always someone available to answer questions that came up in a clear, pleasant way. I am waiting for a new partner, and I hope to be paired up with someone soon.
Partners in Torah set me up with someone who would help me gain access to traditional Jewish texts. That was four years ago and I am still learning every week with the same partner. It has been a great enrichment of my life and I am grateful to PiT for making it happen. On top of that, this is an organization that does not hassle or harass, like for funds. They do their thing, set you up, and are there to help but not to bother.
This is a wonderful organization. I was involved with them years ago, and I just got involved again with a new program they're running. They are great at what they do, helping Jews help each other.
I have been a phone partner for many years (I can't even recall how many), and have developed a stimulating relationship with my study partner, whom I'm never met in person, due to the distance between us. While in many cases we've "agreed to disagree", the discussions, while sometimes spirited, are always cordial. My partner is from a non-observant background, and we have different perspectives on many basic tenets, but I feel that without this exposure, he would not have had a chance to spend an extended amount of time expressing his views and seeing what the other side is about. I certainly would not have met this person without the connection having been made by Partners in Torah, and support them wholeheartedly. Yosef Auerbach
