Never has there been a group of people so dedicated and committed to such an important cause. Their passion for the Orang Utan community is not only immeasurable but also addicting. The incredible research that has been done by these folks on the habitats and preservation of these fantastic creatures would amaze anyone! After hearing several hands-on experts speak along with their extremely informative video presentations, I knew right away that as long as this Foundation is around and supported , that Orang Utans would have the best chance to be protected and nurtured. What a wonderful, professional, well organized, educated and essential cause to protect such beautiful creatures!!

Without this organization to educate the locals and care for the orangutans, one day soon they may be no more. I donate to them because I believe in their work and commitment. What would we do without volunteers such as this organization? What would become of the orangutans? I want to thank them for their dedication to saving the orangutans!

I've had the pleasure of meeting Gary Shapiro, the President of Orang Utan Republik, on a few occasions. Gary's passion for helping both orangutans and the people and ecology of Indonesia are beyond compare. Orang Utan Republik takes a educational approach to help save the area, focusing on empowering the young people in the region to protect their home and all that inhabit it. This meshes well with some of their partner organizations who focus more directly on the animals in peril. This helps to establish both short and long term goals for the small organizations attempting to save all of the amazing life in Borneo and Sumatra.

I contacted OURF founder Dr. Gary Shapiro a year ago when I was writing and illustrating a children's picture book about orangutan. We wanted it to be scientifically accurate, even though aimed at young kids. Gary offered to fact-check the book and was very helpful with both the text and the pictures. His professionalism and knowledge are very extensive. Since then I've been following OURF on social media, and I see that his passion, and that of his staff, is extensive too. The work they do makes a real difference in the orangutan world.

This organization is top notch. They tirelessly work to save orangutans and educate and inspire the young people of Indinesia to take an active role in orangutan conservation and protection. I have supported this group since 2006 and will continue to recommend them to anyone who wants to help make a difference in an increasingly tough battle to save orangutans.

This is a great organization that is helping orangutans by educating the Indonesian people and most importantly young people on how criticallly endangered orangutans are and what can be done to help them fight off extinction. Gary is the most passionate person i know when it comes to orangutans. Since the 70's he has tirelessly worked on their behalf and now heads up Orangutan Republik. I am honored to be able to help in what little ways i can by donating sculptures and raising money through them to help them out. I truly want to see this organization flourish and keep doing what they do best... SAVING ORANGUTANS

I met Dr. Shapiro long time ago in Los Angeles while he was helping the Orang Utan Foundation. I became his wife's friend and later become a friend of the family. I know how much he loves Orang Utans and tries so hard to do good things for them so they will have a good life like us which are part of earth population. Aren't we supposed to share the good life with God's other creatures? I am glad to know that he finally has found his own foundation, so he will have more control. By educating people to love Orang Utans, to preserve their habitat, and to save our planet . I believe in him, so I am happy to support him. Dr. Shapiro is the right person to do it.

It has been such a honor to have had to opportunity to work and learn from Gary Shapiro. He has had lifetime of experience with Orangutans and has been a ground breaker in Orangutan studies in the wild. To this day he dedicates himself to the plight of the critically endangered Orangutan and the other creatures of the forests in Indonesia. Gary also has done amazing work with the Indonesian people and works to provide them with many educational opportunities .

Orang Utan Replublik Foundation knows and cares about orang utan like no others. Gary, founder of this organization has lived with orang utan in the wilderness for many years. his passion and commitment to Orang Utan is without doubt sincere.

So many efforts has been made by this organization. Some the activities that has been done are:
1. giving scholarships and fellowships
2. reduce conflict between human and wild-life, which is a big problem in Indonesia since people are not educated enough
3. give local training about orang utan so that they know more about them. When they know more they will start to care.

Overall a very outstanding organization despite its size. A commitment from the heart of founder is what makes this organization an impactful one.

I've been involved with numerous charitable organizations over the years and strongly believe that OURF is one of the most effective. Although OURF also works on the political level to address human encroachment in orangutan habitats, most of their effort is boots-on-the-ground - developing education and training programs to help the local populations to live and work in a manner that doesn't negatively impact the orangutans. Importantly, a significant proportion of the funds OURF raises goes towards scholarships to train local educators in order to both expand the capacity and sustainability of their programs.

I love what OURF is doing to help the orangutans.
As the CEO of a small company it matters to me greatly that Gary Shapiro has taken it upon himself to create an organization that works at the grass roots level to educate locals about the importance of biodiversity and preserving orangutan habitat.

OURF is a wonderful organization that needs and deserves all the help they can get to accomplish this enormous task. Please consider them when you make a donation. Your money will be put to good use --- and NOT to expensive overhead --aka expensive fundraising programs!

Dr. Shapiro has devoted his life to helping protect and preserve orangutans. His strategy of promoting awareness and conservation education among the people of Indonesia truly gets at the heart of the matter and I believe is critical to making the difference for these amazing creatures. I personally have seen how far that Dr, Shapiro has gone to protect the orangutan habitat when I travelled with him nearly a decade ago to visit Camp Leaky, the site of his original research in the 70's that lead him to a lifetime of working to understand and protect the orangutans. The Orang Utan Republik Foundation is truly a great and innovative organization doing critical work on the ground in Indonesia to support and assist its partner groups!

Gary Shapiro's organization is amazing . I cannot stress enough how important the work is that the Orang Utan Republik Foundation is doing for the survival and well being of orangutans and helping locals become educated about the importance of protecting the orangs.
If you were to support one NGO this is the one to support.

I've donated to OURF for a few years now. What I find compelling is their recognition of the needs of the people who live 'next door' to the Orangutans. By focusing their educational outreach on those whose actions can unintentionally devastate the Orangutans' natural habitat, they are building a long term holistic solution. And Gary is a force of nature...

I have never seen this level of commitment from any other organization for the preservation of a species. Gary and the others who make up the Orang Utan Republik are absolutely passionate in their fight for the rights of these amazing primates as well as for the preservation of their habitat. They do it in a number of ways, but to me, their education projects in Indonesia are what sets them apart and will ultimately bring them success.

When I first ventured to the Jungles of Borneo, in 1996, I first became aware of the desperate plight of the Orangutans. I have been supporting their cause for many years and truly believe that the work done by OURF, through education, is now the best way to help save this amazing species from extinction. I look forward to their next fundraiser on November 15th.
