this camp is a rundown dump. I was brought here from out of state and the condition of the grounds is pathetic. The animals are in deplorable shape and wander around getting taunted by spoiled brat campers who are also extremely rude and disrespectful. Several rabbis behave arrogantly and haughtily.
The grounds crew are a gang of drug addicted drunks and in 2023 a Mexican attacked a man named Kevin. This guy attacked several people previously. By the staffs own big mouths I learned the cars for kid's scam brings in 100 million a year. And that Mintz is a millionaire. I learned of one family who was unable to pay for camp for their 10 yr. old grandson. They could not even afford the 200$ deposit the family never heard from oorah staff again. The lake is a dump for animal feces and the H2O testing reads off the chart E. coli . Typically, oorah believes itself above the law and the children are still allowed to go fishing in this foul lake. As well as paddle boating and no problem with the children going right through the spray of the fountains. That same degenerate homicidal Mexican decides to get creative. I actually watched this maniac spend a whole day placing white rocks on a hill overlooking a disgusting polluted sewage pond that spelled out camp oorah! How cute. Take that as a warning to all who enter oorah is a sewer.
The review from Huntington S. is patently false.
Of the more than $14M raised each year more than $11M goes directly to the various programs that they run.
There are thousands of kids and adults who partake in their programs yearly. Programs include summer camps, big-brother big-sister mentorships, after school programs, holiday retreats, weekend retreats, counseling and help for adults looking to find a marriage partner, tuition program that funds kids to go to school, and more.
A wonderful organization overall!!
Of the more than $14,000,000 raised each year, less than 2% of all funds raised actually goes to "help" anyone. Of the 2%, most of it goes to help pay tuition for students at a private, upscale private school in New York,
Review from Guidestar
Misleading advertising. Copied their name from the original Cars for Kids which supports High Schools and uses meta-tags in Google advertising which leads potential donors to donate to their charity instead of the one intended.
When a company creates a similar name and then hides behind Google search engine terms using the name of Texans Can Academy, Dallas Can Academy, Houston Can Academy or even write off the car not the kid I think they are going beyond good advertising but are misleading donors.
