I had a wonderful time at the Halloween party. It was great to see how much fun the kids had picking out costumes and playing games. Just seeing the smiles on their faces makes it all worth while.
One Simple Wish helped Child Advocates San Antonio raise 800.00 for a teen's braces. She was being bullied @ school for the way her teeth looked. We tried to get the braces approved through Medicaid, & several other resources for 2 years! But with the help of social media & One Simple Wish, the gift of braces were finally a reality for Gloria!!
I love that One Simple Wish has given me the ability to support and care for kids locally by volunteering for events, plus all over the country by granting wishes. I'm not able to be a foster parent at this time, but I can still brighten their day through One Simple Wish!
I've volunteered in various capacities with One Simple Wish and every time, I'm simply blown away by the impact we have as a team on the foster children they serve. It's amazing being a part of such rewarding work! What I love most is that there are plenty of ways absolutely anyone can help out. You can help with an event, or even just reach out to your friends to help grant a wish. I love knowing that I'm giving back to some really deserving kids.
It has truly been an amazing experience volunteering with One Simple Wish! They are constantly coming up with ways to bring happiness into the lives of foster children. I am so happy to be able to volunteer at such an awesome and genuine organization!
As an alumni of the foster care system, I entered the system at the age of 4 and spent time in four or five foster homes until I aged out. I can tell you that as I child, I always felt that I had to be good, be quiet, don't cry, maybe not be noticed, that way no one would hurt me, leave me or send me away again. The feeling that whoever you're living with at the time, you aren't there because you're wanted and loved, hey, you don't know what is happening, you just wonder what will happen next and where you'll be at any moment?
Because of my childhood, I can understand the impact that One Simple Wish can have on the children they serve. I have no doubt that what this organization is doing, is changing lives and therefore changing the future for untold numbers of people. Having a wish granted does not just give a child something they want/need, for some it can show them that someone really does care, someone is listening, someone knows that they are there and that they matter, and this can make a tremendous difference in the life of a child and the path his or her life will take.
I am honored to be an ongoing volunteer and donor to this amazing organization and to have had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with its founder Danielle, and a few of the other wonderful people who help run this organization.
This is an organization that is literally changing and shaping the future!
This organization continues to amaze me! No one talks about abused and neglected kids. Too often they do not enjoy "being a kid" and this group allows them to feel that joy. One child at a time is a great place to start! I am a court-appointed advocate for foster kids and have experienced the hugs and smiles of two kids after their wishes were granted.
One child at a time, One Simple Wish is changing the lives of foster kids and needy families all over the country. Whether it is food baskets for needy families, holiday toys for homeless children, prom dresses for teen girls or traveling the country in an RV, OSW has a mission to fulfill....to let needy families and children know they are they for them. Thank you to One Simple Wish for allowing me to be a small part of the hope they are spreading.
One Simple Wish is run by a team of ultra dedicated administrators and volunteers, and that is one of the most inspiring parts of volunteering for One Simple Wish. You know that every dollar is going to getting these foster children want they need or want, and doing it in a timely fashion. The gift might be simple, but their impact is great! Love to work with this organization
I have been working with One Simple Wish for over a year now, and I've always found One Simple Wish to be fast, effective, and precise when it comes to its purpose- granting wishes for foster children and impoverished families. One Simple Wish founder and Executive Director, Danielle Gletow, is an awesome face for the organization, caring and passionate about the cause.
I have only been with One Simple WIsh for almost two months now, but I can already tell what an amazing organization this is! Everyone involved, whether they're Board Members or Volunteers, is passionate about the mission of OSW. The impact on a child when a "simple" wish is granted is enormous; not only do they get something special and personalized that they've been wanting, they also gain the knowledge that there are people out there who care about them and their future. It has been an honor to be part of an organization filled with individuals who work extremely hard to make children feel special and advocate for a group that needs it!
OSW is a wonderful organization with a wonderful mission. It's great that the focus is to provide for those who are often left without a voice- even in the non-profit world. Even if you can't 'be there' physically, you can make your presence known by granting a wish. It's cool to visit the website and see a wish. At that point, it really becomes personal and you really do feel good after helping. Great idea and great progress so far. I see big things for OSW.
One Simple Wish has touched the lives of so many children and families in one of the most important and simple ways. At a time when a child may feel lost, vulnerable, alone, or like no one cares for them they receive a little hope. It is the small things that make the difference in the lives of these children and OSW really makes that happen; and makes it possible for everyone to play a part. I have been at OSW since November 2010 and must say I am honored to be able to be a part of this organization and making a difference in the lives of these children. Every day is more fulfilling and rewarding than the last and I hope we continue=e to grow and receive support from the community!
