What an amazing, wonderful, loving family of volunteers and equines. I'm in my happy place when with them...best decision I've made in a long time. I'm inspired by Mary Martin with her unrelenting drive to do right by these majestic animals and all the folks at NEER who devote time out of their busy lives for this worthy cause. Your much needed donation will help nurture these abandoned, mistreated and forgotten equines so that they can find their forever home!

NEER North's president Mary Martin leads a dedicated group of volunteers who regularly go the extra mile to take care of the horses, donkeys, and ponies who arrive at our barn abused, starving, injured, neglected, abandoned, or at-risk of slaughter--all desperately needing a new chance for a happy life. My weekly shift as a volunteer brings me in touch with colleagues who share a love for animals and with beautiful equines who face each day with courage, patience, and grace, regardless of the pain and struggles they may have previously endured. Support for NEER North helps pay for the food, shelter, medicines, and veterinary care that help us carry out our mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming equines in desperate need.

Just recently started volunteering here and could not be happier to help such a great organization! Everyone is very focused on both the physical AND mental aspects of rehabilitation so that these animals can leave healthier and happier than when they came.

A wonderful organization with volunteers who truly love spending time with the animals. No amount of snow can keep them away! Volunteering here is one of the highlights of my week.

Run by many thoughtful and truly caring individuals. Effort is an abundant quality throughout the volunteers and the animals quality of life is always put first. New, happy homes are constantly being found for the animals and Mary only picks the best ones! She would never give away an animal to an untrustworthy home. The animals happiness and health is always the top priority at NEER.

Absolutely the best decision I have ever made was showing up at NEER and filling out a volunteer application! Love the people, the animals, and the mission! Mary is one of the most hard working and amazing women I have ever had the privilege of working with! Her love for these animals and her passion to rescue and rehome them is remarkable! She is the one who makes this all possible! Thank you, Mary!

This rescue does a huge amount of good work with really limited resources. I am incredibly proud to be a part of the team.

I volunteered for NEER for several months last year. Their dedication to the animals is obvious. I know they've since changed locations, and so I can't vouch for the new location, but at the old location the horses had several different pastures they were circulated through, and each was very different from the others. I think this was great. I now volunteer for a different horse rescue on the other side of the country, and the horses all have relatively boring pastures (it is grassland here after all), but I can't help but think the environment at NEER is more pleasant for the horses! I definitely recommend NEER, your donations will go very far here.

I have volunteered with NEER north for the last 5 years and it has been an amazing privilege. I have learned so much about the plight of equines in crisis and have seen first hand the work that this organization has done. Turning around horses in failing health and returning them to a renewed state of well being and a new forever loving home has been so inspiring. I have gone on to adopt an unadoptable horse myself and I couldn't be happier. Lynne Deschenes

Working with the donkeys and horses has been so rewarding. Being around the equines and other volunteers has been fun and enlightening. I love my time with them and they in turn show us affection and invite us into their "herd" as their caretakers.

It's been amazing to watch the equines under NEER North's care. Many come in unwanted, unloved, unappreciated, or just not able to be cared for anymore. And all of that changes at NEER North from day 1. They get the treatment, food, love, and attention needed to take that next step in a new forever home. The volunteer base is incredibly dedicated and hard-working, making sure the best things happen for these wonderful animals. It's an honor to be associated with this organization.

i volunteer at new england equine rescue on friday and sunday. if i wasn't a nurse, i'd be there everyday.,and i own it all to mary martin for giving me the opportunity for more exposure with the animals that i love. her dedication to these horses truly show how special she is, and how special this place is. mary and the rest of the volunteers, kelly, lynn, john, amy, nikki, have taught me so much as i prepare for my own horse one day. there is no better feeling than walking in that barn in the morning and seeing these beautiful faces greeting you from the stalls., and lastly, receiving kisses from my boyfriend BOO! mary, many thanks-karen

NEER North is a great place to volunteer, even if you don't have horse experience there are many ways to help: office work, organizing and helping with fundraisers, grant writing, collecting donations. I have seen NEER North take a horse that someone has given up on, and turn it into a healthy, loved animal that has been successfully adopted by a loving home.

I've had the immense pleasure of working with NEER North for several years now, in the capacity of four-time foster mom, donor, and most recently, as the ecstatic adoptive mom of Shay pony. As owner of a large equine facility, I am fortunate to be able to choose from many organizations to partner with, but there are none better for rescue work than Mary, Caroline and staff at NEER North. Not only is their work in rescue and rehab superb, but they are also superior in finding the right homes for animals in their care. The time and effort they take to make sure the adoptions are sucessful and correctly matched, is an integral part of their rescue equation. There is just not enough room to write all the kudos I'd like to give this group! Keep up the great work and THANK YOU for allowing me to share in your wonderful organization!
