Mission: Assistance League is a national nonprofit organization that puts caring and commitment into action through community-based philanthropic projects. It is supported through direct donations and membership dues. Funds raised by chapters stay in their local communities to support philanthropic projects of the respective communities.
Delivering vital support to the member volunteers and their individual chapters is the purpose of National Assistance League. Since 1949, the national organization has helped make volunteer training possible, offered educational support, assured financial responsibility, guaranteed future growth and provided the link for inter-chapter communication. The national organization is dedicated to the ongoing support of its 122 individual chapters and ensuring their long-term presence in the communities they serve.
The national organization conducts four educational conferences for chapter and guild members. These conferences are: Leadership Conference, Treasurers Workshop, Assisteens® Conference, and Annual Conference. Each conference focuses on addressing the educational needs for those in attendance.
Assistance League encourages chapters, guilds and auxiliaries to underwrite the conference fees for their members. The conference materials and knowledge gained is beneficial to all chapters, guilds and auxiliaries. Not only do the participants return with tools that will assist in fulfilling the responsibilities of their offices; they will also gain a deeper understanding of the entire national organization.
Assistance League’s annual Leadership Conference is designed for our incoming Assistance League chapter/guild Presidents, auxiliary Chairmen and Assisteens® Coordinators to provide them with a stimulating symposium of networking opportunities and educational workshops. If an incoming President, auxiliary Chairman or Assisteens® Coordinator is unable to attend, the President-Elect or other member of the chapter's Board is encouraged to attend in their place.
As a Leadership Conference attendee the participants receive valuable training in parliamentary procedure, meeting techniques and ways to approach sensitive chapter issues. The conference also provides the opportunity to meet and network with other Assistance League Presidents, Chairmen and Coordinators to share ideas and receive information about the important work chapters across the nation are doing as they put caring and commitment into action in their communities.
Assistance League’s annual Treasurers Workshop is designed for our incoming Assistance League chapter/guild Treasurers to provide them with educational workshops on how to maintain the financial records for their chapter/guild. If an incoming Treasurer is unable to attend, then an Assistant Treasurer or other member of the chapter's Board is encouraged to attend in their place.
As a Treasurers Workshop attendee the participants receive valuable training in non-profit accounting, and hands-on training on software used to maintain the books and records of their chapter. Attendees are separated into groups based on experience level in order to facilitate the training and provide an effective and comprehensive knowledge adapted experience. The workshop covers basic to advanced non-profit accounting concepts, in-depth internal control issues, and issues that pertain specifically to our organization. The conference also provides the opportunity to meet and network with other Assistance League Treasurers and discuss issues they may encounter.
Our Assisteens® Conference is designed for our Assisteens® members to provide them with innovative leadership training and confidence building workshops. Assisteens® members are typically of high school age and join the auxiliary to participate in philanthropic programs in their communities during their high school years.
