I am super excited to share my experience to volunteer in Pivot Academy because it gave me a chance to impact my community. I am Patrick Mahirwe, volunteered as a facilitator for five weeks in the summer of 2017 as a part of Pivot Academy Rwanda where I got exceptional skills as a facilitator, an educator, and a role model. My work entailed going through a week-long training course to become a facilitator and two weeks working with a team of eighteen students at two different secondary schools in Ruhango School District. I spent a week at each school coaching the students on the importance of high-quality STEM education and how they can use design cycle thinking to solve problems in their local communities. I was instrumental in the success of this program and demonstrated natural leadership skills throughout the Student Academy. Not only did I display exceptional teaching and leadership skills, but I was also incredibly punctual, prepared, and hard-working each day of the program. I was also organized and a significant contributor and collaborator at team meetings. The students both admired and respected me and I, in turn, offered them valuable knowledge and advice that they appreciated. As a facilitator, I was encouraging, responsible, and skilled in providing engaging content that promoted critical thinking. As a person, I am kind, hard-working, and dedicated to my passions which include volunteer work and education.
As a participate in the NewGen Peacebuilders program in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA I have had the pleasure of working with the amazing Mothering Across Continents team. The knowledge and skills I learned in NewGen Peacebuilders 4 years ago, I still use today. The facilitators were incredibly knowledgeable about their topics and worked hard to explain when needed and made sure to follow up. I am so honored to call myself a certified NewGen Peacebuilder because anyone who has the pleasure of working with this organization is truly blessed. - Milan Novakovic
Mothering Across Continents has been a wonderful partner in creating top notch educational programs and school buildings for at risk students in Ruweng State, South Sudan.
MAC has worked the past three year in improving STEM education in East Africa through their project call Pivot Academy. They have engaged with over 600 high school student and 40 teacher in Rwanda and plan to expand to other countries in East Africa. Please keep changing lives.
I have worked with Mothering Across Continents over the past 2 years in one of its projects in Rwanda called Pivot Academy. This project focuses on empowering science students with better knowledge thorough hands-on experiments and technology. Personally, I don't have a strong background in sciences, but being involved in Pivot Academy made me get to experience how studying science being provided with a time for practice is very exciting and important--unfortunately only few students get this chance in Rwanda. I was proud of being part of a very dynamic and vibrant team that is doing its best to bring revolution in high school science education in Rwanda because I could see the excitement from the students and a high level of participation and collaboration--which I believe will make them acquire advanced practical skills in return.
Mothering Across Continents equips its young participants with the time-tested knowledge and tools to create positive change in their community or globally. Participants are challenged to first understand the nuances within existing humanitarian conflicts, and then only afterward to envision solutions to that conflict. Whereas students have many opportunities to lend a hand in community service/volunteer projects through school, I can't think of another program like Mothering Across Continents that forces them to really examine why certain conflicts persist and to improve upon existing "band aid" solutions.
I spent this past summer working with math teachers in Rwanda through Pivot Academy (one of MAC's programs). This was an incredible experience. I really valued having the opportunity to visit schools in another part of the world and to share teaching strategies internationally. Thanks to Mothering Across Continents, I have been able to stay in touch with the teachers and community members who I met through Pivot Academy Rwanda.
This organization does amazing and professional worh on behalf of woman and orphans around the world! Allowing passionate world citizens to implement their dreams of helping others, teaching the win-win effect of community service to US teens, and connecting the arts to global awareness is what the do; it's how they do it... Efficient, effective, and personal!
I have worked with this organization for five years. Their staff is top notch and they get results! Because of them, a school was build in a remote South Sudanese village. More projects are underway to benefit South Sudan.
Mothering Across Continents has created a solid framework by which our team is in the process of creating two sustainable school projects in South Sudan. Even though working in South Sudan is extremely difficult, our project, designed by Mothering Across Continents has met goals that other groups have only hoped to achieve.
I had the opportunity to work with this organization on a project my senior year of high school. Not only were we successful in our project, they were very helpful at letting the students learn the ins and outs of the business. We were treated like peers and adults but at the same time if we needed help with anything they were always there. The people from MAC that we worked with were incredibly personable and I still keep in touch with one which I think really shows that they care about more than just raising the money but the people they are working with as well. I still continue to donate money to the causes they have and I hope to even work with them in the near future as an intern or still as a volunteer!
At my high school I had heard of mothering across continents. Everyone at East Meck had on a black south Sudan shirt. The following year I had the opportunity to organize our schools event for mothering across continents and use the anyone can campaign. We fluctuated on the anyone can aspect of it and we involved our EC and ESL students I the painting party. We recognized their view of hunger , poverty, water and infrastructure, as well as other topics. Mothering accepss continents has given my hogh school the opportunity to think about an other society and acknowledge their dreams. Our students have actually stood up for education for the south Sudan children. We thank mothering accross continents for bringing knowledge into our school and giving up that drive to help others.
I have had the chance to work with Mothering Across Continents for the past few years. The organization is wonderful and provides all with the opportunity to help those in need and truly make a difference in the world, while touching the hearts of many. I have worked with them on the "Raising Sudan" project and was amazed by the enthusiasm and love it's leaders expressed and inspired in others. I saw my school and community come together and work toward a common goal of building schools as well as wells in South Sudan. These projects have changed lives including mine, and without MAC none of it would have been possible. The organization is wonderful in every aspect and gives even high school students a chance to be a part of their family and change the world.
Mothering Across Continents is a wonderful organization. They came and worked with my school and others to raise money and awareness for a civilization is South Sudan. When they came to work with us it was wonderful to see how everybody wanted to get involved and how they made it so fun and easy for everyone to get involved. Working with this organization was a blast we were able to raise a large amount of money for South Sudan, more than just my school was involved. They were able to incorporate several schools in North Carolina to make our project amazing. It was great how they were able to let everybody give a helping, they made it where is was easy to help make a difference and that was the best part .
Mothering Across Continents cooperated with my school and others to raise capital to improve life conditions in South Sudan. I was floored by their passion for the cause and their faith in younger generations as a force for good. They are fantastic examples of the measures that should be taken to raise young people to their full potential. They offered students many educational tools and opportunities to make a change for South Sudan.
I am a volunteer for the High Hopes Haiti (HHH) project for Mothering Across Continents (MAC). Through the HHH project I have been able to learn how to innovate with little resources. It is a fulfilling experience to imagine and then execute a co-created vision to empower women in rural Haiti. What is amazing about this organization is that it allows you to take your dreams and realize them through the MAC platform that provides coaching and leadership development. MAC is not only about measuring tangible outcomes like building a school or providing necessary nutrition for a productive learning environment but also shifts the consciousness for all involved to be aware of how they impact global society through their actions.
