As a retired principal, I remember the essay and other contests available through MEEC. Many of our students won and were featured in the Daily Press. Teachers availed themselves of the many free and low-cost workshops that offered free curriculum guides. I'm glad MEEC continues to offer many opportunities for students and teachers in the high desert.
When I was the principal of Victoria Magathan Elementary in the Adelanto School District, I always advertised your contests and opportunities to the students and teachers. I was so proud when my students won essay and other contests and were awarded with certificates and ceremonies and were featured in the Daily Press. Your end of the year dinner honoring outstanding teachers (one of mine) was also inspirational. I love how you work in tandem with the schools and districts to educate students, teachers, and administrators on the environment. My hat is off to you! Dr. Mary Thompson
Many years ago on a flight from Sacramento to Ontario I sat next to a gentleman from the California Superintendent of Schools. During the conversation on the hour long flight we learned of our mutual interest in environmental education for California schools and the development of approvable curriculum for use by teachers. We exchanged contact information with a promise to keep in touch.
I took this information and gave it to Violet Roberts, of the District's PR group and told her to run with and run she did. Through her efforts she was able to organize the necessary resources, funds and volunteers to make this the great nonprofit it is today.
Through the efforts of this nonprofit, businesses, schools and the public have made enormous strides in the environmental education not only throughout the Mojave Desert. but the entire state.
I am now retired but continue to keep informed of the ongoing projects. I'm still to amaze how the dedication of the members and volunteers of this organization enhance and promote the various aspects of environmental education.
It is for these reasons I highly recommend that MEEC be recognized as a top rated nonprofit.
MEEC has provided me with so many opportunities. Not only do they help me with finding unique curriculum for my students but also help to put me in contact with industry professionals (other than myself). They help me bring the real world into my classroom and me to the real world. They have provided me with Place Based Learning opportunities, supplies for my classroom, curriculum, dinner, and networking. Thank you, keep up the good work. I'm telling every teacher I know about MEEC!!! You rock :) and I know because I am a Geologist ;)
MEEC has supported my students and I for many years. My students have learned about solar, wind, hydroelectric, and hydroponics through projects and labs funded by MEEC. The teacher workshops, support, and supplies for teachers are by far the best in the high desert.
MEEC has supported our students in many ways through the years. We have participated in the YELC conference where our students have made a difference in our school environment with the education they have delivered. MEEC comes to our science fair each year with a special award to honor students who have exceptional environmental projects. The solor oven competition is a favorite as well and our students have placed well each year. My favorite event is the Student of the Year award and the teacher of the year award. MEEC is amazing and we hope they are around for a long time to come.

MEEC is the best! They are so professional and generous! I've attended several workshops they've offered for educators and have always been impressed, and enlightened! Samantha takes her job seriously and follows through to provide a positive experience for all.
MEEC is a wonderful organization! Samantha Murray goes out of her way to involve the community in the vast programs offered through MEEC. I am go grateful for all the professional development opportunities and the curriculum provided by this organization that reinforces STEM in my classroom. In addition to professional development, MEEC offers many grants, contests, and additional resources for the classroom and school. Not only are there common core centered projects and activities, the curriculum is relevant and actively engages students in learning about the environment. Thank you, MEEC!
MEEC has been outstanding for our students and our community! They are educating teachers and students and causing a paradigm shift in our area. Our school has become a school of environmental education, largely as a result of MEEC's influence. Samantha Murray is a true professional and works to continually improve the education system.
MEEC is an amazing organization!!! They provide opportunities like no other. They are dedicated to getting STEM into the classrooms and they support educators by providing the vehicle for funding! They have helped make a major impact in my classroom!
MEEC is an outstanding organization! They offer many opportunities for both student and the teacher. I was taken back by the measures that the specialists have taken to provide insight, with respect to STEM curriculum. I have been to many fantastic workshops, that allow me to expose my students to various , hands on methods of instruction. In addition, I was given a list of organizations that were willing to come to the classroom and make toothpaste! So many students left school that day, eager to become scientists. Furthermore, I was lucky enough to attend Keystone Science School over the summer. I am at a loss for words! It was an amazing experience! One of which I have taken to my classroom, daily! I can't remember teaching before I found MEEC. I can assure you it has made me love my job even more!

I am a special education teacher. I have found that MEEC is accepting of all students regardless of ability. This is something that is not always the case, and so it makes science education that much more accessible for my students. I appreciate all of the resources, ideas, and support that MEEC provides to ALL students.
Excellent training for educators interested in expanding their knowledge base in the area of science. MEEC always provides great supplemental material to use in the classroom.
MEEC is very education-friendly. They fund grant opportunities, present workshops with free material to take.
This organization has been an integral catalyst with respect to my teaching and my environmental awareness and activism. I've attended workshops and Summer institutes, participated in contests and programs, all meaningful and valuable. The staff are knowledgable and very helpful. Their newsletter is top notch and their communication...timely. Hands down the best non-profit I've ever been associated with.
When I was a school principal my students loved MEEC essay contests and often won. MEEC would have, and still has, celebrations for students and field trips and trainings for teachers. At the end of the year they honor teachers. Most of what they do is free or low cost. They support girls in science and other fields. I'm glad our community has MEEC.
MEEC is an amazing organization that provides opportunities for our students that we may otherwise not taken advantage of. We have received transportation grants to a variety of places that deal with STEM activities. I have attended workshops where supplies were given to us for classroom use (I teach science). Members of MEEC are on our board of directors for the STEM Academy at Barstow High school. I have used the environmental curriculum developed by MEEC professionals in my classroom. I am so thankful I have become involved with this program my students have benefited tremendously.
My experience with MEEC has been entirely positive. MEEC connects industry leaders with educational groups to promote environmental education for students. MEEC provides Youth Environmental Educational Seminars for students and recognizes teachers of excellence in environmental education.
If you take the time to become involved in MEEC it is very apparent and does not take long to see the dedication and passion that MEEC, its sponsors and educators have… not only towards the environment but more importantly towards the environmental stewards of tomorrow…our children. With the uncertainty in today’s budgets and the strain placed on teachers everywhere ….MEEC is providing relevant curriculum and funds for our classrooms. MEEC also places emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics just another reason why their corporate sponsors support them. These programs are training our children for the future.
Several of our teachers and dozens of our students have benefited greatly from working with MEEC. The Youth Environmental Leadership Conference gave our students the opportunity to practice valuable skills including creativity, collaboration, and communication. Teachers have taken advantage of several opportunities for professional development, including desert photography and environmental studies. I am proud that Discovery School is working with MEEC!
