The MEEC organization has been extremely helpful to our opening of our STEAM lab at Discovery School of the Arts. They provided the funding for a one of a kind wall wrap that has help transformed our lab. Students instantly know that learning is different when they enter the lab and see the wall wrap. MEEC also provided funding towards a 65 inch monitor that students use to present their eportfolios to the class. Students keep track of their STEAM projects everyday by writing and adding photos ofwhat they have been working on in the lab. The 65 inch monitor has provided our students the opportunity to present their finished Eportfolio to the class and showoff what they have accomplished. Laslty, we were able to add two additional robotics kits to the lab through the assistance of the MEEC organizations. We were in need of more complex robotics that include more programing capabilities for our 5th and 6th grade students. These kits are already in use and our students our loving the challenge and complexity of the new kits.
MEEC is one of the best educational resources for teachers in the high desert area for STEM and environmental sciences. They offer a wide variety of workshops, competitions, and grants for teachers and students with the sole expectation of promoting STEM and environmental awareness throughout the educational community of the high desert.
MEEC offers great hands-on classes for educators that are content based. Each class includes standard based curriculum that the teacher can bring back to their classroom and implement with their students. They also offer incredible resources that the educator can check out and use in their classroom.
MEEC also offers amazing grant opportunities for teachers. I have been able to take my past students on amazing field trips because of their wonderful transportation grants.
Teachers are spoiled by MEEC in so many ways! Environmental workshops are offered frequently and provide classroom curriculum and all the materials we need to do projects with our students. One of our favorites was making our own toothpaste in second grade! The MEEC Program Specialist even came to our school to do a presentation on The Mojave Watershed with all of our classes. MEEC offers grants for field trip transportation costs, special environmental projects, and school gardens! We were awarded a grant to transform a water guzzling grassy area into a serene, drought tolerant, butterfly garden. MEEC also supports our vegetable garden with drip irrigation and gardening supplies. MEEC paid for our class field trip to Devil's Punchbowl Natural Area where we learned about the incredible rock formations and desert life from the park rangers and from our hike down to the creek. MEEC also provided solar ovens, rocks and minerals collections, backpacks, microscopes and much more for our classroom. Students love to zoom in on miniscule objects under the microscopes, the fly leg and butterfly wing get a lot of oohs and ahhs. MEEC is a huge resource and support for teachers and environmental education. If you're not on their mailing list you are missing out- get connected ASAP!

As a teacher at Knight High School in Palmdale, MEEC has done so many things that have effected the students learning about environmental education- classroom speakers, field trips, teacher seminars with supplies to bring back to the room, and conferences for kids- that the experience for students would not be the same without them.
Great resource and support for educators from elementary school to high school!
MEEC was there for me from my very first year of teaching to now. They have been instrumental in supporting my science instruction in my Special Education classroom. My students learn best when working across curriculum and hands-on. Science is the best for this type of instruction, and you can see it in my student's engagement. MEEC has been so important to the science instruction within my classroom. They see the importance of continuing to provide a strong science instruction, and they back their support with financial support as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
My name is Valerie Kimmel-Oliva, and I am a special education teacher at Desert Knolls Elementary School, Apple Valley Unified School District. I am writing this review to tell you about a wonderful service organization located in the greater Victor Valley.
MEEC-Mojave Environmental Education Consortium is a fantastic organization that supports teachers and provides a variety of opportunities for students within their service area.
I have been attending MEEC training workshops for the past three years. I am beginning my third year as a MEEC-Ambassador at my school-site. I relay information about trainings, workshops, contests, and service learning opportunities, to my peers.
I have had the opportunity to travel to a variety of locations to study environmental issues and participate in conversations with fellow educators from across the country and Mexico. I have taken students on field trips to Organic farms and Recycling Recovery Centers, where MEEC has provide funding for transportation services.
Our school-site has received funding to develop our school garden/outdoor learning laboratory, and to help purchase much needed tools and supplies to make it a sustainable growing project.
I was fortunate and very honored to be selected by the MEEC board as the 2015-2016 MEEC Teacher of the Year. It was a turning point in my professional career and personal development!
We have taken students to the YELC-Youth Environmtal Leadership Conference, the Showcase event, and the Annual Solar Oven Competition, all designed to support service learning and STEM activites/projects.
MEEC is a fantastic organization that helps provide environmental education and programs for teachers, students, and the community members, free of charge. I hope the corporations in the greater San Bernardino County area will consider funding MEEC, as they are a very worthy, honest, and highly professional organization!
An organization that is a model of how community can help school children learn real world skills that equips them to be active citizens. Professional development conducted by business professionals that trains teachers with the best skills and knowledge for free! Materials, grants and curriculum that ensures students from Kindergarten up can encounter Environmental education in the classroom and in the community.
Since 2008 MEEC has provided grants for buses for field trips, created essay contests that enabled my first, second, third, fourth, and fifth graders with the ability to apply their knowledge, show what they learned and earn prizes for doing so. My first graders were able to learn about water, life science and energy thru window gardens, water activities, butterfly habitats and science experiments. Each step of the learning since 2008 has helped the students have a love for living science and their world! We love MEEC and plan to continue teaming with such a marvelous organization.

Even though MEEC is not really close to our area I have been able to use several of their programs over the years. As a teacher I was able to take a photography class and go to a summer class on Catalina Island. I was able to use the knowledge I gained on both these trips in my classroom. I have taken a few other classes as well, but those trips were my favorite. I have also given some of their essay contests to my kids as extra credit assignments. They have won awards a few times too.
MEEC has been so much help for the students in our remote desert town. They have come and presented water conservation workshops and provided environmental field trips. In addition, they have given the teachers free STEM and other environmental workshops. I am very grateful for all they do for us in the Morongo Basin.
MEEC is truly here to support teachers and students in our area! From classes to competitions , they do it all. I have attended teacher trainings for solar energy, gardening and STEM learning. They have sponsored student events for STEM learning and Solar Oven competitions. They help sponsor multiple day travels for teachers to learn about geology and other subjects. They offer grants to help curtail field trip costs for environmental topics as well as grants for gardens in schools. What an amazing organization! Our schools would suffer without the knowledge shared by that terrific organization. Thank you for your continued support.
MEEC offers many opportunities for teachers to receive training in many areas that benefit students. They offer grant opportunities to provide for the funds to take an educational field trip. They provide other grant opportunities towards developing a school garden and other creative endeavors. They help provide lots of outstanding opportunities to teachers. I went to a Forestry Institute years ago. It was an amazing educational experience. It provide tools that I use to share hands on with my students to this day. I am thankful for all the amazing opportunities they offer.
MEEC has provided many wonderful resources for my classroom. I have attended numerous STEM learning classes, where I have been given first hand knowledge and classroom materials to take back to my students and school site. My students have benefited greatly from the knowledge that I have acquired through MEEC support. My students have gone on wonderful learning field trips that support 21st Century learning. If it wasn't for MEEC, many teachers would not have the support in the classroom that we do with MEEC.
Thank you MEEC for all of your support to the Teachers of the High Desert!
These folks to it all: training for me; projects and events for my students; and transportation grants for environmental field trips. I started enjoying their programs a dozen years ago and they have grown stronger with time.
This is a wonderful organization that sponsors a variety of STEM workshops for classroom teachers. Teachers are treated to engaging presentations and are sent off back to their classrooms with supplies and resources to prepare their students for 21st century careers! I look forward to attending at least one or two of these each year.
First learned about MEEC 6 years ago and had one of my students enter and essay contest. She won and is now study marine science in San Diego. Have attended multiple seminars, received their "teaching boxes" and used them to help expand my students knowledge in earth science.
MEEC has got to be one of the greatest resources for educators here in the high desert for all STEM-based learning. They are focused around an environmental concept and apply that towards workshops, student conferences, and a multitude of grants meant to increase awareness of our environment as well as promote community service.
MEEC has provided some fantastic and usable trainings in Environmental Education. As a teacher, I love to learn, and I love it even more when I walk away with user-friendly activities and lessons to take back to my students to expand their environmental awareness and experiences! Many Thanks, MEEC!! You are appreciated!
Great information that is close to home, supports STEM, and helps to fund fantastic learning opportunities for our students.
