Minnie's Food Pantry rolls out the red carpet for everyone - the people they serve, the volunteers that donate their time and the donors who donate food and money. They are led by the fabulous Dr. Cheryl 'Action' Jackson who's passion for serving is contagious. The team ensures that every person who walks through the doors of the building are served with a smile and a hug. The now infamous chant of 'If you can't feed a hundred people, feed just one' says it all in a nutshell. No matter how big or small the difference is...they encourage everyone to just make A DIFFERENCE. And Minnie's does just that for thousands of families every year.

Two cans of corn and 3.4 million meals later
www.minniefoodpantry.org
My name is Cheryl Jackson, I supported the organization called Minnie's Food Pantry because my sister was talking to me and I found out that she only had on can of corn in her house and when I told my husband about it, he said if I asked her for it, she would give it to us. I begged him not to but then we agreed if she brought it, we would give her our savings which at the time was $500 ( which ironically is the amount of your 1st place prize). The back story is that there was a time when I couldn't feed my family of four but then times got better and my husband and I began to see the light at the end of the tunnel BUT to know that my only sister needed food for her family just devastated me. Well, my sister did bring that can of corn to me and we gave her the money. Years later our father would pass away and I needed to find a way to honor my mother so the charity I gave to was the one I started, it's called Minnie's Food pantry and it is named after our Mother, Minnie Ewing who passed away this year on Mothers Day weekend. We are still feeding people in her name, we recently gave food for 10,000 people for Thanksgiving so this contest would help us keep the mission going. To give corn that we didn't have to over 300,000 people and counting means more to me and my sister now that our mother is going. Minnie's Pantry literally rolls out the red carpet for people to get a healthy meal. Giving is the fabric of our family, from generation to generation.

There is no pantry that can come close to the love you feel when you step inside Minnie's.

I constantly keep hearing about this wonderful food pantry that rolls out the red carpet when people need help, so I had to investigate. To my surprise, it was better than what I heard. The staff is so warm and friendly and Mrs. Jackson gives you such a warm embrace and a beautiful smile. Truly they are a blessing to the Collin County Community. I can see why they were featured on Hunger in America special on the Food Network. Kudos to Minnie's Food Pantry. Please do what you can to make sure their doors never close.

I believe it is the leadership of the Executive Director and the Board, coupled with fantastic volunteers, that sets this organization apart from others. Speak with any one of them and it is readily apparent the passion and commitment they have. They show such sound and compassionate decision making, that it is no wonder why Minnie's is such a success and doing so much good for so many people. This is a group making real and positive change. Minnie's Food Pantry is an inspiration and makes you feel hopeful for the future of our community.

I have to say Minnie's Food Pantry is God sent!! The owner, Cheryl Jackson, is the most loving individual I have met. Her giving spirit and loving heart is one that endures in times like these. I have taken to her and will do anything possible to assist her in every way possible. God bless you Cheryl and I always wish you the best in everything you do.

All I can say is Cheryl and every volunteer at Minnie's Food Pantry are non-stop in working to help others in need. The tireless hours organizing the pantry, giving events, and serving others is almost unfathomable until you realize the joy that comes from serving others and making their lives brighter, not only in a time of need, but in general. You don't often see people with such drive and a willingness of self sacrifice and they constantly exude those qualities and more. I couldn't agree more with another review that said "People come to Minnie's and are greeted with compassion, warmth and dignity!"

Minnie's food pantry demonstrates that the hungry can live anywhere! Plano Texas is not often thought of as a community with those in need.
These challenging economic times prove otherwise. People come to Minnie's and are greeted with compassion, warmth and dignity!
Cheryl Jackson's passion infuses this place with kindness and warmth!

This is one of the best ran nonprofit organizations that I know. I have known Cheryl since high school and always knew she was put on this earth to do great things. I have never seen anyone with as much dedication and determination, as I see in her. She is truly an angel and the world would be a much greater place if we had more people like her.

Minnie's Food Pantry is definitely, doing the most good. Not only do they give food for thought, food for the stomach. The Bible says the greatest among you, shall be servant. They serve with the spirit of EXCELLENCE, service with a smile. There is an old adage that states, people don't care how much you know, until they know how much you CARE. Not only do they share food, but also a kind word, a hug in due season and are always trying to figure out how they can feed more people...WOW, I salute Minnie's Food Pantry for A Job Well Done!
