Lutheran World Relief is unrivaled in the effectiveness in disaster response. And that's just the start. Lutheran World Relief stay around, helping local people really get themselves back on their feet. Sustainable agriculture and fair trade initiatives provide long term benefits in poverty stricken places throughout the world. And all those the personal hygiene kits, school kits, quilts, baby kits, sewing kits, etc Lutheran World Relief distributes are donated in-kind donations , That means Lutheran World Relief can deliver the most .bang for buck' The networking and local connections built up over 5 decades of serving give Lutheran World Relief a huge edge when disaster does strike.
I recently sent sent a donation to LWR. While I contribute regularly to many charities (which I investigate on Charity Navigator) this was my first time with LWR. In addition to a written acknowledgement, I received a telephone call from a human being, a lovely woman who never once asked for more money. She was pleasant, brief, and to the point. That never happened to me before. I will continue to support other charities (primarily Lutheran), but as of now, LWR is moved to the top of my list. They do very good work with small resources, and most of their income goes right into service, not salaries.
LWR is one of the best aid organizations in the world. They reach a great number of people by using their resources wisely and efficiently. They look into what communities need by working with the inhabitants. They have been around for many years. They are there for disaster relief and rebuilding.
I have been donating to this charity for years. They care about places where people suffer but may not dominate the news. They have very low administrative overhead, and are never intrusive in seeking donations.
I have contributed to LWR through the years. Anytime, I have had questions, they have assisted me and answered those questions quickly and to my complete satisfaction. They are an example of 'God's work, our hands'.
I have given to LWR for some years, admiring the stewardship and selection of services they support. Lutheran World Relief adheres to the mission of service and caring.
Lutheran World Relief has a long history of working to meet the needs of the most vulnerable people in the world: refugees, victims of disaster, people recovering from devastation of all kinds, as well as committing to help people move from extreme poverty to stability and hope for a better future. I appreciate that they do not impose ideas on poor people, but help them to achieve their communities' goals, whether it be through education, health care, agricultural improvements, improving employment possibilities or simply moving from survival to thriving. It is a great organization all around.
Throughout my life I have contributed to Lutheran World Relief (LWR) both financially and materially by gathering health care supplies, baby clothes, and making quilts. They are excellent educators, passionate servants, and fantastic stewards of all the gifts entrusted to them. They are one of the first aid organizations to enter in time of need and one of the last to leave. I couldn't be more impressed with of their work on my behalf.
LWR shares care, compassion and respect with the poorest of the poor around the world. Using resources carefully to educate and support. I know the donations are used for the communities and not in growing a large administration of the agency.
Lutheran World Relief is the disaster response organization that really makes the most of your donation. Because Lutheran World Relief has existing local and regional partner and government connects, ait can move faster and more efficiently to wherever needed in 50+ nations all over the world. Lutheran World Relief has many projects to address needs of the poor. My personal favorite is the quilt, school kit and health kit collection in the U.S. for distrubtion aboard. I love that a quilt I made with my hands ends up in the hands of someone who needs it half a world away. Lutheran World Relief quilts and kits say "Someone, across the seas, cares about you" in every language on earth! Visit the Lutheran World Relief website at: lwr.org Find a outreach that moves you to reach out to those in need Believe me, it feels good!
Worldwide reach with nearly every penny donated going directly to the cause!
Lutheran World Relief is one of a very few charities I donate to and the reason is simple. More than ninety cents on the dollar is used directly for the outreach I select. There are so many choices of where and how your donation is used that I can't imagine any person not finding a place to donate that touches their heart.
LWR does wonderful work in hard to serve areas all over the world. I can trust that my donation is being used wisely and for the best good.
Touching the whole world in sooo many ways every single day, one day at a time.
This amazing organization engages volunteers in the advancement of the mission of the organization, as well as the the opportunity to bring hope to communities in desperate need.
I know that when I contribute to Lutheran World Relief my contributions will be used effectively and efficiently. LWR allows me to work around the world, even though I cannot physically be there. Keep it up LWR!
There really is no better non-profit out there. The do on pennies what other agencies claim to do with thousands. Our quilting circle at our Lutheran church have made over 16,000 quilts since 1979. We have not kept track of all the medical kits, school kits, etc., but they are many as well. LWR makes good use of their volunteers and resources. These quilts and kits bring much hope to the people who receive them. I am proud of this organization and wholeheartedly support their mission.
My organization did a service project to make Quilts for Lutheran World Relief. We believe strongly in the mission of LWR and have ALWAYS had wonderful experiences with the staff. They are highly qualified, humble and fun people!
I like the idea that we can donate actual items [like quilts, school supplies, and hygiene items, etc.] instead of only cash donations.
I've had the privilege of spending time with several LWR staff members in a variety of settings as a volunteer, advisor and donor. The staff of LWR are both impressive and inspiring. The fact that such a high % of their income is spent directly on programs is amazing. I'm convinced that LWR lives its mission and is making a difference in our very complicated world. If you are already familiar with them, I encourage you to dig deeper and find additional ways to support their work. And if you are new to LWR, call, email or visit someone to learn more about how you might become involved.
