Luke's Wings is a great nonprofit that works hard to give Veterans and their families support when they need it most. As the President of Hogs And Heroes Maryland 1 chapter I can attest that Luke's Wings is a nonprofit that is strives to raise awareness and funding for Veteran needs.
I've had a chance to meet the (tiny but mighty!) staff of Luke's Wings and am in awe of how much they are able to accomplish with so little overhead. By keeping their team small, they are able to devote a huge portion of their incoming donations to their mission of keeping veterans connected to a support network. Despite their small staff size, they are able to respond to veteran requests very quickly, and the veterans I've spoken to who have benefited from Luke's Wings have nothing but praise for both the general operation and the wonderful women who staff it.
Luke's Wings is an amazing organization! They strive for excellence in serving our Wounded Warriors by taking care of the major and minor details so desperately needed, but often overlooked. The fact that they provide flights for loved ones of our wounded heroes so they can be by their side during the recovery process is priceless. The touch of a hand, the warmth of a kiss or just the presence of a loved one can work miracles that even modern medicine at times cannot accomplish. When you stop and think about the sacrifices these men and women have made, it is our duty to enhance their recovery and thank God we have Luke's Wings to make that happen. It is an organization I am proud to donate to, be involved with and watch as they continue to dedicate themselves and resources to make a difference in our military heroes' lives. All the events we have attended have been focused on the men and women whom they serve as well as uplifting, emotional and rewarding for those of us in attendance. You walk away knowing you have made a difference - what an awesome feeling! Thank you Luke's Wings!!
Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic fundraising team
I was fortunate to have been introduced to Luke's Wings at a Chamber event last summer. I was so impressed with their mission that I made a decision to get involved with their wonderful cause immediately. When you understand the sacrifices our American Heroes / Wounded Warriors have made for our country, it is a "no brainer" to choose this Non Profit to donate to. We have attended events, met the owners, met some of the Wounded Warriors and have seen firsthand the difference this organization is making!! Excellent organization, excellent cause, excellent mission. I am a business owner and have chosen Luke's Wings as the non-profit we support. I encourage others to do the same, Thank you Luke's Wings for working hard to take care of those who have taken care of us. God Bless the USA.
Reviewers on GuideStar have the opportunity to rate the impact of a charity, with the highest being "Life Changing." No organization meets that mark the way Luke's Wings does. They work tirelessly to provide soldiers with the best support system and unconditional love - that of their families. They are successful because they truly believe in their cause and work steadfastly to fulfill their mission statement. This is not a hobby or a pet project - this is their passion. Thank you Luke's Wings, for taking the initiative on something we all should be doing without question - supporting our troops and their families.
Review from Guidestar
Luke's Wings reminds us that we must not forget those who serve, and particularly those who have been injured in that service. Luke's Wings brings family and service members together when often the individuals themselves can not afford it and this makes a tremendous impact on them, their families and their communities.
This is a truly amazing organization. They have a single, well-defined core mission: bringing the families and friends of wounded (most egregiously--TBI, amputees, etc.) warriors to be with them while in one of the ten rehab hospitals in the U.S. It makes such a real difference to the wounded men and women of our Armed Services to have family members with them as they recover and begin a new chapter in their lives and many cannot afford airline tickets and hotel rooms. I sent my donation on a Tues, got a thank you on Thurs., and an email update on Friday of how my money was used to fly the family of a Marine amputee's family from Tennessee to D.C. to visit him while at Walter Reed. I got to know the Marine, and see a photo slideshow of his rehab through their Facebook page and email updates. I was blown away by their efficient and immediate use of my donation, and by the way their staff actually goes to Walter Reed each week to spend time with the wounded warriors and their families who are visiting. I wish all non-profits worked like this.
