Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Children & Youth, Health, Health Support, Human Services, International, International Relief, Youth Development

Mission: To transform the lives of orphaned and impoverished children.

Results: Some of our recent accomplishments include: * We continue to provide nurturing foster care in both China and Cambodia, including our new Safe Haven foster care program for trafficked or abused children. Our foster care program has allowed over 3500 children to live in home-care versus an institution. LWB has local managers on site in every foster care community who check on the progress of the children in their foster homes every month. * LWB’s medical program continues to provide surgeries to children abandoned with conditions such as cleft lip, spinal tumors, congenital heart defects, and more. The majority of our surgeries are performed at Fudan University in Shanghai and Anhui Children’s Hospital in Hefei. Our Unity Initiative for impoverished children also provides heart surgeries when their parents are unable to afford care. Additionally, our Cleft Initiative continues to bring educational materials and specialized bottles to families of cleft-affected children throughout China by partnering with maternity hospitals. In 2017, LWB held our latest cleft surgery exchange in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, providing new smiles to children from throughout the country. In India, LWB is partnering with Mission Smile to provide life-changing surgery to children in Kolkata born with cleft lip. * Our Healing Homes program provides care to vulnerable babies who have been abandoned with medical needs. Our Anhui and Heartbridge Healing Homes are located in China, and our Mukono Baby Room is located in Uganda. *LWB's education program helps children of all ages with several different programs. Over 3700 children have received access to education, from preschool through college. Our Believe in Me schools in rural Cambodia provide primary school education to children in remote villages, while our orphanage school in China serves children born with medical needs which prevent them from attending public school. * Our nutrition program is helping to provide much-needed formula, cereal and hot lunches to children of all ages in LWB programs. We help provide specialized baby formula to children with issues such as prematurity and milk allergies. LWB provides daily hot lunch to the children in our Cambodian schools, as childhood malnutrition rates are extremely high in the rural regions where we are working.

Target demographics: Orphaned and impoverished children

Direct beneficiaries per year: Hundreds of children through our programs located throughout the world.

Geographic areas served: Cambodia, China, India, and Uganda

Programs: LWB has four main focus areas: healing, education, foster care and nutrition.

I love Love Without Boundaries. I have been involved with them for eight years and know that each child they care for is put first, cared for and loved. They fight for the children that noone else is fighting for, and have saved the lives of many through the medical care they help make possible. They also provide education to the impoverished, in areas where school hasn't been available before. Sponsors get regular updates. All of my interactions with LWB have shown that they are ethical and wise with donations.

Love Without Boundaries (LWB) is an organization which truly lives up to its goal of TRANSFORMING THE LIVES OF ORPHANED & IMPOVERISHED CHILDREN. One of the many amazing aspects of LWB is the variety and creativity of their many programs, including medical care / education / nutrition / foster care / child trafficking aid and other programs.

My introduction to LWB was through my son Jaden. Jaden was born in China and was orphaned as an infant. LWB arranged for him to have the two surgeries that he needed, and it was only AFTER surgery that he was listed as a candidate for international adoption. His orphanage director later told us that Jaden would never have been listed for adoption if LWB had not arranged for Jaden’s surgeries.

So it is an absolute fact that without LWB’s intervention, we never would have even known that our son Jaden existed. He would still be living in an orphanage and he would never have a Mom, Dad, brothers, or sisters. Now he has five siblings, and he is a source of joy to all who know him!

My relationship to LWB has evolved over the years. After Jaden came home, we became donors to several of LWB’s programs, and about one year ago I began volunteering for LWB.

LWB has a large team of volunteers from around the world, several of whom work hard to keep the donors informed about the lives of the children who are being transformed by LWB. This communication back to the donors is one of the many defining characteristics of LWB.

LWB has created multiple programs over the years to improve the lives of thousands of children. Over the past 15 years, MORE THAN 50,000 CHILDREN have been DIRECTLY IMPACTED by the programs of LWB!!!

The following information is provided on their website:
Over 10,000 pediatric medical cases and evaluations, with 4,300+ surgeries and hospitalizations
3,500 children placed into foster homes
3,700 children given access to education
6,400 children served through our nutrition program
780+ children given specialized care in our healing homes
1,300 orphaned children enrolled in summer camps
25,000 cleft bottles distributed to orphanages and maternity hospitals
45,000 coats and blankets distributed to orphaned and rural children
700 special projects completed, including new cribs, playgrounds, wheelchair projects, and more
21 physical therapy trainings, including two at the national level
7 special education trainings
17 medical exchanges between US and Chinese physicians
3,000 copies of our Manual of Special Needs distributed to orphanages

In addition, over the past couple of years they have built schools in two rural villages in Cambodia and are providing education, food, water, and health care to more than 300 children living in the region.

As a volunteer, I recently had the opportunity to travel to the villages in Cambodia to see the impact of the programs firsthand. While there I got to meet many of the children, and as a physician I performed physical examinations.

Prior to LWB’s programs there, the great majority to the children were so severely malnourished that most of them were not even on the growth charts for height or weight. Many were so malnourished that their hair was actually discolored as a result.

Also, the great majority of the children in the area were not able to attend school due to financial issues, family issues, transportation issues, and/or due to the risk of being abducted in this area which is known to have a high risk of child trafficking.

Now the children are able to get an education and are provided with nutritious meals!

After visiting the schools, I can state without hyperbole that LWB’s programs are truly TRANSFORMING the lives of these children.

A first grader recently expressed her appreciation this way:
"I really like the hot lunch program at school. Before, I didn’t get to eat lunch because my dad doesn’t have enough money to feed everyone in the family. I eat as much as I can during the LWB lunch, so then if I don’t get dinner at night I don’t feel as hungry."

LWB now provides her and her classmates TWO hot meals per day!

There is no way that I can really express the impact of LWB on so many children’s lives in this review. But I will share the story of one more child.

Charles is a teenage boy whose femur (thigh bone) was broken in late 2016 when he was struck by a hit and run driver. He did not have any access to medical care, and his leg became severely infected. By the time LWB learned of his condition, Charles had a very real risk of losing his leg. LWB was able to get him to a hospital in nearby Thailand for treatment. His infection was treated, and he then had a surgery with placement of some impressive hardware!

I got to meet Charles at my recent visit, and he is doing amazingly well. He has full use of his leg and has no pain!!

Here is the impact that LWB had on Charles, in his own words:
"I’m so grateful to LWB and their donors for providing medical care to me which allowed my leg to be saved. It was a gift I will never forget the rest of my life. Because my broken femur was repaired, I can now go back to school, which gives me real hope."

Truly his life has been transformed by the intervention of LWB!!

As I mentioned, there is no way that I can share the scope of LWB’s impact on so many thousands of children. I do recommend the following resources to help get more of an idea of LWB’s impact.

I highly recommend that you visit LWB’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/lwbfanpage

I highly recommend that you visit LWB’s Website at www.lovewithoutboundaries.com

I highly recommend that you visit LWB’s Blog at www.lwbcommunity.org

I highly recommend that you read the book about the early years of LWB: https://www.amazon.com/Heart-Orphan-Amy-Eldridge/dp/0979463939/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1538843046&sr=8-1&keywords=amy+eldridge

Again, there is no way that I can give an idea of the scope and impact of LWB on so many thousands of children.

But if a picture is worth a thousand words, let me leave you with three pictures and one video of my son Jaden. (He is wearing the red shirt in the first picture and the USA swimtrunks in the third picture.)

Without LWB he would not be with his family. He would still be an orphan. Instead, he is a loved child.

Thanks LWB!

Wonderful non profit that is powered by passionate volunteers who believe in the mission of Love Without Boundaries. This is what makes this organization stand out, it is all volunteers, and all heart. They are constantly reevaluating how they can best help children in impoverished communities around the world and have worked miracles for so many orphaned children and impoverished families that need help with education or medical needs. I also love the personal contact that donors receive from the organizational volunteers to thank them for their donations and also keep them updated on the children they've sponsored.

I have been a volunteer for Love Without Boundaries Foundation since December 2006. The work done by this charity over the years has been amazing. So many lives changed by medical procedures that have saved lives and put them on the path for adoption. Even many who will not have the opportunity to be adopted have been helped nutritionally and educationally. I donate to very few organizations that I trust and LWB is one of them. An incredible amount of the work to put these programs into practice is done by volunteers. They are an excellent example of service and accountability.

I have one daughter that was helped by LWB's education program, and I have been a volunteer for Love Without Boundaries for almost 4 years. It is a privilege to help so many children through my work and know that through the volunteer efforts of many others as well, a lot of children are helped medically, educationally, emotionally and physically. I think LWB does an amazing work.

Love Without Boundaries really believes in its motto that ever child counts and has a team of dedicated people who knows that every small action counts. It has been wonderful volunteering with LWB and knowing that I'm making a difference in a child's life - however small. LWB is very well organized and communicates effectively to everyone inside and outside the organization

Full disclosure--I am a volunteer with Love Without Boundaries, and have, at my own expense, traveled with the organization on medical missions for children with cleft lip and palate. I can vouch for the consideration and love that goes into each of the Love Without Boundaries' programs. The child is foremost, and with the cultural awareness and respect that is part of every endeavor, entire communities benefit long term. Love Without Boundaries lives up to its name in all it does.

I started out as a donor/sponsor with Love Without Boundaries because I was impressed with their work with babies and children in China who were in need of medical help. I have since become a volunteer with the organization as a coordinator for one of their many education programs. I am consistently impressed with the breadth of Love Without Boundaries' many programs in various countries that address so many needs--medical, education, nutrition, foster care, water, family preservation--and they do it in a way that truly meets those needs in a culturally respectful and sustainable way.

I first heard of Love Without Boundaries in 2010 through a friend. We had donated to help a child who had the same complex medical history as our daughter did. This child needed life saving surgery and medical treatment and had LWB not intervened, I believe she would likely have not survived. Two years later, we became the proud parents of that same child through adoption. I now serve as a volunteer with LWB. Seeing the "behind the scenes" work LWB does through my role as a volunteer has only made me respect LWB even more than I already had! They are an organization that truly lives up to their name, and I stand with them in the fight to help orphaned and impoverished children around our globe!

I first became aware of the tremendous work of Love Without Boundaries (LWB) in 2012 when we adopted three children from China, who each had somehow benefited from the organizations' efforts. The organization is amazing and the love and passion all of the staff and volunteers have for caring for children is unbelievable. They do amazing work in many countries, providing medical, educational and nutritional care to those who would no doubt not survive if it weren't for LWB. I will forever be indebted to them for what they did for my children before they were in my family, and I am honored to volunteer my time to contribute to helping other children.

I currently volunteer here and have seen first hand how much love and work are provided for these children. Each child is cared for individually and advocated for to the furthest extent possible. All the work is done from the genuine care and concern from everyone's hearts and it is evident in the quality of programs and care provided for the children. LWB not only works with orphans but are dedicated to helping prevent orphans through their Unity Initiative and also for children left behind from working parents. It speaks volumes to the depths of the love from this organization for the children.

I have volunteered for LWB for over 10 years. One of the reasons I love supporting LWB is its strong core of volunteers which means funds donated go to help the kids, not to administrative salaries. Volunteers make this happen and donors know their money goes to what their hearts feel is important! I continue to be amazed at cost effective solutions to big problems as LWB helps in the many countries it serves.

I have been a volunteer with Love Without Boundaries for 8 years now. Because the organization has only a few paid staff, the focus is always on the children. The majority of each dollar goes directly to services such as foster care, education and medical care. The unity initiative is reducing child abandonment through the provision of medical care that birth families cannot afford. One of my children was served by education, foster care, and medical care and she was healthy and easily adjusted to life in our family. The children thrive with the love and attention they receive from this organization.

I have been a donor for many years and a current volunteer, and I am consistently blown aware by this nonprofit. They truly change the lives of children who are in what would otherwise be impossible circumstances and do so with the highest level of integrity that I have ever witnessed. I have been involved in numerous nonprofits for well over a decade as an employee, volunteer, and/or donor and Love Without Boundaries exceeds them all with regard to their honesty, passion, and service.

LWB is a wonderful nonprofit that works hard to serve children in China, Cambodia, India, and Uganda. Through their efforts, families are kept together, children receive medical care and education they otherwise wouldn't, and children without families are able to live in loving foster homes in their own countries before their adoption. The work LWB does is sustainable, using in-country staff whenever possible, and almost all of their American staff are unpaid volunteers. LWB sets an example for how nonprofits should operate.

I am a volunteer with Love Without Boundaries in their education program and am very impressed with the services given to the children there. Love Without Boundaries knows and serves each child involved. I also sponsor a child in the medical program and receive detailed monthly reports. With LWB, the child comes first--always.

As a volunteer in Shanghai, I visit and spend a lot of time with the LWB-sponsored children who come to China's top pediatric hospital, where I see firsthand how LWB strives to provide the most compassionate care possible to every single child. I also travel on an annual LWB medical trip, where I photograph children before and after cleft lip and palate surgery. Like all other LWB volunteers, I travel at my own expense. I also donate to this charity's medical fund, and I sponsor a child in foster care. I would not volunteer my time and donate my money to a charity that wasn't absolutely transparent and fiscally responsible. I am so grateful that this charity exists to advocate for orphaned and impoverished children who otherwise would have little hope. Volunteering with LWB has changed my life.

After our first adoption, we became aware of Love Without Boundaries and all the many programs they have started including medical, foster care, education, special programs, nutrition, and new ones appear as needs are seen. We appreciate ALL that Love Without Boundaries Foundation does to help needy orphans in China, as well as their newer program "the Unity Fund" that helps needy children to remain in their families. We volunteer and have been donors over the years and can't say enough about the programs that LWB supports and the awesome group of volunteers who make this a top notch non-profit organization! So many children have been helped and we recommend giving to this organization because Love Without Boundaries makes a real difference!

I've volunteered since 2011 with this organization. I watched them grow from just a group of adoptive parents thinking about how they could help one little boy to an world-wide organization of volunteers who have helped so many children in China. They have many programs such as healing homes, foster care programs, Believe in Me school programs, unity initiatives that help poor families get the surgeries for their children so they don't have to abandon them, life-skills programs for older orphans, nutrition, care-give training and more. LWB is not the kind of organization that puts out sad advertisements to get people to donate. LWB does the work, gets the kids help, and report back to the donors how the children are doing. The kids are not just a name or a number, Each child is a story of how people pulled together, sometimes in most difficult of circumstances and how healing and transformation takes place. In the Changzhi Foster Care program, we have had 22 children get adopted and each of them was much more prepared for transition into a forever family because of the love and care they got in a foster family instead of an orphanage. It is all possible not only because of the dedication of our volunteers, it is the strong dedication of our thousands of sponsors who donate and support these children and the programs that help them. For an idea of some ways LWB is making a difference see for yourself. https://www.lovewithoutboundaries.com/impact-report/

I witness daily the compassion, care, understanding and dedication all the LWB volunteers put into their work all over the world. They are able to take on responsibilities such as identifying children in need, creating a plan, execute it in hours and save a life. Not only save a life but take it through medical treatment, healing, and into foster homes with families who care for them in a natural family setting instead of an orphanage. They run educational programs for orphans who would not get to go to school, fund higher education for kids who are so poor their families or the relative they may be living with can't afford. There are so many things LWB does seamlessly and so many lives are touched especially those of us who do the work.

LWB is a fantastic nonprofit that supports children and families in China. Not only do they do great work in supporting orphans, education, and medical needs, they also work hard to keep families together! They are a great group to volunteer with as well - truly a family!
