The Lord's Pantry brings our community together in so many special ways besides the obvious needed help that it provides. Being aware of a need in our own community and being able to take part in such a friendly, clean, and family-type organization is simply a pleasure. There are so many simple, and inviting ways to donate to this great organization. People attend parties where the "gifts" are asked to be items to donate to our pantry! That makes everyone feel great!! The workers at the pantry are the most welcoming, kind and generous people and they make you feel wonderful. they really make you feel an important part of the community, as a recipient, donor or whatever part you take in the Lord's Pantry Family. Truly one of the best things about living in Chester County, is knowing that such an important, well-run, caring organization is there for all to take part.
As affluent as is Chester County, PA., there are many people who do not share in this financial success. The Lord's Pantry serves so many people in need. The volunteers are also truly special people.
The Lord's Pantry is run completely by volunteers and I am certain that my donations, both food and money, will support those who are truly in need. There is no "middleman" making any money off my donations and I like this about donating to the Lord's Pantry.
I have been volunteering for the Lord's Pantry for about 10 years or so. I have seen it grow from a 2-closet area in the basement of a church to occupying an entire building that was purchased after extensive fund raising and private donations. There is more room for our clients to sit and wait comfortably while waiting to shop and there is more room for storage and an administrative office for the director. I enjoy volunteering at the Lord's Pantry. Most of our clients are so appreciative of what they receive and are very pleasant to work with. Jan Leaf is an excellent director and a very caring, generous and compassionate person.
The Lord's Pantry is a local non-profit that does tremendous work assisting families in need providing ccritical services such as food, clothing, holiday meals and materials and many other types of assistance. The staff and volunteers there are extremely dedicated to their cause and give a major part of their time and resources by providing the best services to their clients.
I have been on both sides of the distribution from the Lord's Pantry in Downingtown. When my husband was out of work they were so generous and helpful getting us through some very difficult times. For the past several years we have been a supporter of the pantry to help other families who need help. We have even carried this into a religious education classes to teach the young to give back to the community. This year our class filled over 20 Christmas stockings for children there age who might not get anything for Christmas if it was not for the Lord's Pantry of Downingtown.
I've known the director of Lord's Pantry my entire life and this is how I became involved with this nonprofit organization. Her daughter is one of my best friends and we grew up together; I started going to the Lord's Pantry at a very young age. Now that I am a junior in college, I realize the impact the Lord's Pantry has had on my life. As I'm beginning to student teach next semester, I realize the importance of God's love in a young child's life. The Lord's Pantry shares God's love through food, a necessity that is often taken for granted in many households. The people who run the Lord's Pantry and volunteer are the people who are making the world a better place.
