Mission: To foster, promote and encourage sportsmanship, teamwork and camaraderie through the sport of sled hockey, specifically aimed at a juvenile and adolescent population of physically and/or mentally challenged athletes.
Inherent in that goal is the development of a sense of self-esteem, pride and friendship within this population. Long Island Sled Hockey, Inc. also focuses on the development and nurturing of positive attitudes in and outside the Long Island community toward those with physical and/or mental handicapping conditions. Our main tenet remains that each athlete PAYS NOTHING FOR THIS PROGRAM: NOTHING FOR THEIR $2000 WORTH OF EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORMS, NOTHING FOR TRAVEL, INCLUDING TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION FEES, AIR, BUS HOTEL AND MEALS. NOTHING, PERIOD. WE RELY ON YOU!!!

What a great program for athletes with both physical and mental challenges. Once on the ice all of there playing ability makes ones disability become nonexistent for a time. Wins and losses are rewarded in hugs, smiles and tears for all involved. NEVER SAY NEVER TO A CHALLENGE!!
My son has been on this team since its inception. Any body that wants to play, we WILL find a way. The word "NO" is not part of the Organizations vocabulary! Its amazing to see how many people, no matter what their age, love being part of a team and playing a great game of hockey. So many of our players have matured and have no problems playing against other players no matter their size or how good they are. We have players that travel from other states just to be part of this program. No matter what your "challenge" is, if you like being part of a team, if you like the game of hockey and/or are tired of doing nothing, this program could help you a lot!
This is fantastic program for people that have any kind of "challenge!" If you love hockey and want to play, no matter what your "challenge" is, a way will be found for you to play.If you want to play, or just join a great group and help out, try Long Island Sled Hockey....you will NOT be sorry!
My son started playing sled hockey when he was still very ill when it was part of a handicapped sports group. We broke away to focus this program only on sled hockey. With Bryan B. as our president, he has been able to raise funds and bring this sport and our team to places we NEVER thought we could go. But most of all, what it has done for the players, their self estreem, being part of a team and being able to play hockey, no matter what their challenges are, has been unbeleivable. No matter what a -person is facing,if they want to play, we WILL find a way. The journey so far has been amazing.
My son has been playing sled hockey for many years with the program. It gives differently abled athletes of all ages and issues to be able to play a game they love and NEVER thought they would be able to play. They come off the ice all sweated and tired but you will NEVER see bigger smiles and their happiness to be able to play. The program is well run and the money that is raised goes to travel, equipment and other necessities of the game. If you or someone you know that is "differently abled" likes to play, come on down and see if you like it. No matter what the issue, if you want to play, we NEVER say NO and will find a way!!
My son has been a part of this program for 11 years now and it has changed our lives. The people that are involved are phenomenal. He has been disabled from birth and the roughriders allows him to play the game he loves. We have became a family with these people and we have spent some good times along the way. Thank you for everything Bryan.
