Lombard Soup Kitchen filled me up when I was empty. I had good food, good company, good music and prayer and good conversations. I left there happy, satisfied and hopeful for the peace of our world.

I must admit, I had no idea what was in store for me when I agreed to go with my friend to the Lombard Soup Kitchen. Needless to say I wasn't exactly excited, but WOW. The people that work there are amazing, and the community members being served are fantastic. I've been making weekly trips to help out and am never disappointed. Everybody should make their way down, and if you don't, do something for the community. Volunteer somewhere, donate money to some foundation, do an event for a cause, go out and make the world a better place.

Lombard soup kitchen is life changing. Both those who serve and those being served are the most gracious people I have ever met. Lombard put the world in perspective for me and showed me how even though times can be hard (and I mean really hard) there are always reasons to be thankful. Starting my Friday mornings off with Lombard starts my day off right and is always a great way to wrap up a stressful week at school. Thank you Lombard!

The people that are running the kitchen are wonderful. They make you feel welcome, and they are providing a great service to the people of Philadelphia. I would definitely recommend volunteering there to friends.

This is a great service to the persons in need of the West Philadelphia area. They not only offer food, but medical information and limited screening, a warm place to be and even kinder individuals to staff it.

This charity was a wonderful soup kitchen. The food was wonderful and the people were so friendly. The group leader, Danny, was great. Though there was not much to do, I feel we helped a lot. We also got the chance to talk to the people coming for a meal there and that is very important to me.

This was my first time volunteering at Lombard Central Presbyterian Church soup kitchen, and I felt so welcomed. It was very lively and fun to volunteer here, and if you asked about something, there's always someone helping you. The people and atmosphere made the experience so much better, and I know that this volunteer service was going for a good cause. I would definitely come back.

In the several trips I have made to Lombard so far this year, I have been extremely impressed. To be honest, interacting with the individuals (both those serving and those being served) at the soup kitchen was probably just as beneficial to me as it was to those I tried to help. Though the wealth gap in America is startling, and I have always known about it, one cannot truly understand the severity of the problem of hunger until one witnesses it firsthand. On my first day at Lombard, I heard a woman proclaim, "Jesus is so good! I thought I was going to have to wait till Tuesday to eat!" (this was on the preceding Friday). I was blown away. I must admit, I wish I had gotten to do more interacting with the individuals at the soup kitchen instead of just cleaning, but that was likely due to the scheduling difficulties on my end of the volunteering experience.

I think this is a great service to the community. I feel we had a few to many volunteers the day I volunteered, so we did all have something to do the whole time. I know that it is hard to know how many volunteerers are going to show up each day.

Overall it was very good. The people there were nice and were extremely welcoming. They told us what we needed to do and helped us put if we had any issues.

When I came in the Soup Kitchen, it looked like a habitat. Some people in there were homeless or lost their ability. This place provides food, drink, and clothes for free. What’s more, the most interesting thing was that, there was a priest (not really a priest, maybe just a speaker) who wear a casual T-shirt and read the Bible loudly to those people.
What I did was carried some boxes of can, filled up drink in plastic cup and hang out those drink for people who sitting in there. These jobs were pretty easy for me, and it funny because I can hear the Bible.

Doing volunteer work for the soup kitchen was a very interesting experience which opened my eyes to things I take for granted. Going there made me feel that I am making some kind of a difference.

I chose to volunteer at Lombard soup kitchen because some of my friends told me it was a great opportunity. I worked in the kitchen to help the personnel to cook for the poor people. I really enjoy it. I didn't know that a simple meal (chicken and soup) can give to so many people a smile and make their day. I will definitely recommended it.

Myself and a few of my colleagues from the Drexel University Department of Athletics came together and volunteered at the Lombard Soup Kitchen. For me personally it was a great experience and it felt so nice to know we were helping others!

I really enjoyed volunteering here. The people were nice and friendly, and the work wasn't difficult at all, though it wouldn't have been a problem if it was.

I work in the Athletics Department at Drexel. We have decided to team up with the Lombard Soup Kitchen once a month for our staff members to volunteer.

I really enjoyed working with the people at the Lombard Soup Kitchen. I volunteered two times and each time I went, I did different things. I swept the leaves off the porch and the walkways, cleaned one of the back rooms, set up tables and chairs for a service, swept the basement floor and distributed the meals to the people. My favorite part was being able to talk to the people. We could have down time to just talk, eat and see what kinds of experiences the people had. It was great hearing their stories and where they've been throughout the years. One thing that I would say that could be improved would be to have an actual "to-do" list or a schedule of the things we do there. At times I would stand around and not really know what to do next. I would have liked to know before hand what we can do that way I can use my time efficiently and get work done as much as possible to help as best I can. Other than that, I really did enjoy volunteering there and I would volunteer again. Denney definitely added to my experience because he is a very friendly, helpful person with the program and the experience itself. He helped me realize certain things about Drexel that I would not ordinarily have noticed. He is a great leader for this program and he has a great personality that can work with all types of people which I noticed when I volunteered with him. The Lombard Soup Kitchen is a great program if you want to give back to the community.

During my time at the Lombard Soup Kitchen, I was able to witness a level of gratitude and joy that is hard to come by. Everyone from the chefs preparing the food, the owner of the church, and the recipients of the the meal were friendly and open. I was able to sit down and talk with the people there and they accepted me instantly with smiling eyes. The whole process was life-changing. I was glad to be able to satisfy the needy by simply serving them food. Everything was well organized and the environment was welcoming.

Basically, I was donating time to help cleaning and serving food there. It’s quite simple.
