Programs: Family & youth programs during the 2011-2012 fiscal year, 75 students were served from 3pm to 6pm monday through friday in an after school program 180 days of the academic year. Each student was service a nutritious hot meal (for some their only meal of the day) and the program brought together homework and tutoring support, physical and recreational activities, and field trips in a respectful atmosphere that fosters good values and good academic performance. One hundred percent maintained good attendence in the program and at school with satisfactory academic performance.
day care this program served 273 students using the pennsylvania learning standards for early childhood, adopted in 2007 and still very much in force. One hundred percent of the students were graduated at the end of the program, and one hundred percent entered a public, private, or charter school kindergarten program. Past history has shown that students who complete the lighthouse preschool program do particularly well in their subsequent and later education.
adult services this program is aimed at partnerships with individuals, families, businesses, government and other agencies to help meet economic needs in the community. In the current fiscal year the program secured 15 rental rebates for business owners, provided job readiness skills orientation to 300 community members, interviewed 205 clients, placed 67 in full and part-time jobs and made 82 referrals to education and/or training.
